Sodhi's very lucky to get a test here, hope he shows he's up to it but I'm not holding my breath. Delport's probably the leading domestic spinner at the moment, and if a leggie were to be selected I'd plump for Ashok over Sodhi.
we really need to pull an england and ignore domestic stats almost totally when picking spinners for asian tours. it's not the same game.

having said that Delport would actually be a solid pick. Accurate, can bowl quick, mostly sidespin.

Ajaz took 10 wickets in an innings last time he was in india.

like I really rated ajaz and he got shafted a bit never being picked anywhere else, but he's genuinely been a bit of a liability quite consistently in places where he should be our main bowler like pakistan, bangla, sl, and now this series. A main finger spinner needs to offer control.

Sodhi bowled very well in Pakistan.
He does have a tendency to bowl typical leggie roobish, but I think he will be effective on this pitch.

Mitchell needs a score. He can't dine off that great series he had in England forever.
He does need a score, but don't agree at all that he's been coasting on that one series. This extended tour is the first time since he became a regular that he's really struggled.

I just don't think these conditions are his go, and they probably never will be. Doesn't mean he can't go and smash tons at home and in the rest of SENA away though. That's still a big majority of games he's gonna play.

It is interesting how good his ODI record in India is, but the pitches aren't really as spicy in that format.

He also had that random fitty at #3 last India tour.
