South Africa team selection

I think we back the same team. In a way it's good to see all these batsmen get another go.

Should also add. Not been impressed by Bedingham's dismissals in the Windies and here. But we got to remember how few tests he has played along with Stubbs, Rickelton & Breetzke. Even De Zorzi but has played a few more than them.
I haven't been impressed with Bedingham for someone so highly rated and more experienced. But I'm very much of the opinion that you need to back the batsmen and let them find there feet. Been far to much chopping and changing amongst the young batsmen selected for far to many years.

Kallis has more himself than a lot of those. Really stacks out his province, lol.

Rickelton hasn't looked test material. It's early doors but it would be a big turn around for him. Think top of the order & keeping in white-ball cricket is his best bet.

PS I do appreciate his chances have been scattered but he hasn't shown from early that he looks at home like Stubbs, Tony & Kyle. In and amongst their failures they did.

I would definitely give him a few more chances, but I would prefer Breetkze there at the moment. We have other youngsters to try if these players don't work out. But be fair and give enough opportunity. Its another reason why the 6 tests next year is terrible.

They deserve proper runs look at how wiaan is coming right now check shukris article he says he will play in side no matter what https://www.clubcricket.co.za/latestnews/shukri-conrad-praises-wiaan-mulder/

Also rickleton and breezke maybe should be only played when openings in top 4 not sure 5 and 6 suites them I know you need to prove yourself whenever spots open but some guys prefer to bat up top.

Conrad is a huge fan of Mulder. Looking ahead to Sri Lanka visiting, are we going to see:

1. De Zorzi
2. Markram
3. Stubbs
4. Bavuma
5. Bedingham
6. Verreynne
7. Mulder
8. Jansen
9. Maharaj
10. Coetzee/Ngidi/Paterson
11. Rabada

Durban does spin these days but I'd still be surprised if we play Muthusamy or Piedt there.

I favour Coetzee. Feels like a team that could be really good though. Bats deep. Good bowling. Lots of potential.

That 11th spot is ideal for x-factor and high pace. Pity Nortje isn't making himself available as you imagine only 3 in SA fit the high pace category with Coetzee & Burger the others.

The batting deep does feel like a nice bonus to have for the bad days we may have.

I still believe we haven't seen the last of Nortje in Test Cricket. Probably a better bowler at this stage than Coetzee but Coetzee is also more than handy with the bat. Can get you those 20s or 30s.
