Australia A vs India A games

Not happy they're putting a game on at a test venue. Should keep the touring sides well away from them until they have to play there in the real thing.
We should be thankful it's not at Junction Oval or Harris would have made another ****ing ton.

An update to the Australia A squad.

Mark Steketee out injured, replaced by Liam Hatcher who also got injured and is now replaced by Brandon Doggett

I dont know why they bothered as they have Boland, Neser, McAndrew, O'Neill and Buckingham (I suspect they need 6 pacers so that they all only play 1 game)

Hopefully Big ***eh McAndrew takes a some wickets and puts himself in the frame for a call up at some point this summer. Would be a fap-a-thon if he got a gig.

Big fan of McAndrew, has put in great stints at Sussex (unlike that **** Travis ****ing Head). But is he really in the Test frame?

A bit of trivia. The last India A vs Australia A series was 6 years ago. Some Aus A players from that series which made it big:

Khawaja, Labuschagne, Head, Marsh, Carey

(Shubman Gill played that series too aged 19)

Kinda strange selections there imo, Hatcher especially doesn't have the sort of domestic record either overall or recently that really justifies higher honours. Doggett is a little better in that respect but still not exactly jumping off the page, having watched a fair bit of him ever since he moved here he can be great when he's on but also tends to have the odd day where he just bowls a load of pump. Neither are particularly young either

Can only think the logic would be to look at guys who have a little bit of extra pace compared to most around, because others certainly have a better body of work at Shield level

Aus A bowling attacks are locked in:

Game 1 - Mackay
O' Neill, Doggett, Buckingham, Murphy

Game 2 - MCG
Boland, Neser, McAndrew, Rocchiccioli

Game 2 looks very much like the real 2nd XI attack where Test squad reserves will come from?

Murphy would still be ahead of Rocchiccioli if Lyon was injured IMO, but yeah the game 2 pace attack looks more like the 'real' side. I'm surprised they didn't split Boland and Neser up.

Yep, Hatcher is pump imo. Can't believe he still gets a gig for NSW tbh

Yeah, selectors made a point that Murphy is playing in Mackay as he has nothing to prove at MCG, but then they pick Boland for MCG 😆

(Boland doesn't have anything to prove anywhere though I guess, just fitness)

I'm thinking these 5 are the players to watch from India A as they're also in the Test Squad (or reserves)?

Test Squad
Abhimanyu Easwaran, Nitish Kumar Reddy

Test Squad Pace Reserves
Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Khaleel Ahmed

TBF there seems to be a lot of clearly better NSWelshmen either injured or having already left the state, but yeah he definitely seems to have an overly long rope from the NSW selectors relative to actual performance.

Still sprays it too much to be a good FC bowler, and at this stage of his career is unlikely to ever significantly improve on that

Probably a bit harsh but Murphy appears to have stagnated while Roccxwyz has done consistently well

Definitely was the case last season, but all the mail from the Victorian setup is he had a bit of a shoulder drama that was hampering his form. Has looked a bit better the couple of times I have got to watch him for a properly decent spell this season so far.

Still, even though I am of the school of thought that Lyon still has a fair bit of cricket left in him, it's a good thing (and historically rare in this country) to have some healthy competition among domestic spinners for once. Far prefer that the alternative of nobody domestically looking likely at all as was the case only about 4 or so years ago
