*OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

If Cox does well in the NZ tour, he has to replace Pope
Pope can play a brilliant knock from time to time, but he is way too inconsistent

I nominate Azhar Mahmood's ton in SA as a contender for best knock by a jobber. Asad Shafiq's GABBA innings too.
You're kind of ignoring the fact that England reached 200-2
Skill issue tbh. Also, the ball wasn't doing a whole lot aside from the Duckett dismissal. It was just a normal turner where the batsmen had to stay forward and play it in front of square. England got it wrong again

Both Pope and Stokes are poor players of spin, they have let the team down.
Stokes is not even bowling and on top of that his captaincy was poor today. He has to play a blinder tomorrow to salvage his poor record in Asia

Not really debating what's happened in this Test. England haven't played well and deserve to find themselves in the position they do. There wasn't a huge advantage in winning the toss though, there was in the 2nd, it's seemingly just you who hasn't come to terms with that.

A bit late in the piece but has there been a more blatant declaration of intent than the Pak bowling card at lunch on Day 1? Only Sajid and Noman used and both having bowled 15 overs apiece. I'm thinking maybe Bangladesh in the modern era but it can't have been done too often.

Essentially the weaknesses of 3 of the top 6 against spin are being brutally exposed. I don't think that can be disputed. You are right about the 2nd test though. For the early part of the England innings on the second day, they were fine and built a strong position and then the ball started to rag later in the day and that was decisive. That said, for this game, I think Stokes deserves a fair amount of criticism for his captaincy. Why oh why wasn't Atkinson given more overs at the back end of yesterday or earlier today when Shakeel looked way more uncomfortable against him than he did the spinners. Nuts.

The difference hasn't been the toss it's freaking Sajid Khan & Noman Ali , two old school FC veteran players have shown up everyone and aren't getting the credit they deserve in my opinion.

The amount of value they have added outta nowhere has been incredible and rarely seen in Test cricket ..

32 Test wickets and counting @18.43 with the ball

150 runs contributed with the bat which is more than Pope , Stokes combined

Nah, I say it solely on the evidence on offer. Pakistan may well have won the 2nd Test no matter what, but to suggest the toss wasn't helpful is just weird.
To constantly whinge about the toss to the point of discrediting other factors as if the match was won by lottery is weak.

Yeah, whatever happens tomorrow, it's been delightful to see the impact these two have made.

Yeah, whatever. I hadn't even mentioned the toss here till you made your entrance. You haven't discussed anything else, so which one of us is besotted with it?

Which begs the question, why were they not in the squad for the First Test? I've seen it mentioned that returning to them was a backward step for Pakistan Cricket as a whole, but Sajid is only 31 anyway.
