I don't think his wicket keeping was good enough to exceed Flower's batting. My guy couldn't perform against Bangladesh at home.
Well Flower was easily the worst keeper of this lot so… the phrase wicket keeper batsman does have wicket keeper in the prominent first position

Well I never saw Flower keep much, but on CW his wicket keeping is rated quite lowly. However I heard Kimber once say that he was a better keeper than Gilchrist iirc. Guess I'll have to do some research
That's a very interesting take and totally changes many things here, as I rate Flower a clearly superior bat.
As only a pure wicket keeper better, is Sanga 2nd? Because his batting went down massively while keeping + he only kept in a minority part of his career. As good a batsman as he was, it doesn't feel right keeping him in second
Yeah, just 40+, but was a class keeper and honestly, no other keeper averages such will explicitly batting at 3.

Serious question, but is Pant better than Rizwan?? He is very poor against the moving ball.
Yes. Isn’t Pant one of the only players nevermind keepers to have scored a bunch of centuries in like 5 away series or something weird like that?
He’s still a baby in test terms too, he has insane output.
He’s an unorthodox bat - his output is there.

His greatest output is being the MVP in two series victories in Australia. Wonder how many cricketers, let alone keepers, can claim that.

No he was terrible

rad haddin is obviously the answer here
I have read a few times on here that he wasn't good. He's definitely the best batsman out of those three but probably would have been a specialist batsman for a better side.

Alan Knott

Averaging 32 after 95 tests, these old timers are really something.

Why not have Wridhhiman Saha as 4th then, 40 tests 3 centuries at 30 and was as good a keeper as any, and that man was dropped for Pant.
Maybe Foakes can also come in with 2 hundreds in 25 tests.

Yeah no, Knott was one of the best keepers ever, plus he averaged 30 with the bat.

Some people seem to not understand the term wicket keeper batsman. There’s a reason wicket keeper is the first of those words.

Wriddhiman Saha also averaged 30 and was one of the best keeper of his era. Also more centuries per innings.

Maybe he is a legend for you, for me he is mediocrity exemplified just like Alan Knott.

I knew Kimber was an idiot but if he really did say Flower's keeping was better than Gilchrist's then I've under-estimated him. I don't know how anyone can have watched his career and think that. He was a better batsman than Gilchrist, keeping though, no where close. He was very sloppy and untidy by specialist keeper standards. Gilchrist kept at an insanely high standard with very few blemishes except for the odd series like the 05 ashes.
