Give KW back the captaincy in an interim capacity (a longer term captain can be appointed for the England series in December), promise Tim a few farewell games in the T20's later this summer, and give NZ the best chance to level this series.
Latham is the vc and pre-tour Southee admitted that he (Timmy) might not play all the tests in Asia due to conditions and high no of tests, and that Latham would captain if Southee was "rested" for any matches.

It'll be interesting to see what happens if we manage to win any of those tests that Southee doesn't play.

Ali TT

International Regular
Batters 8, 9, 10 and Jack contributing 47 runs for 13 dismissals in that match. As it should be.

Jayasuriya has taken 62/88 of his test career wickets at Galle.

What is the highest percentage of wickets on one ground, of bowlers with say more than 50 or 100 wickets?

NZ cricket fans , if Conway fails in the next test test will he be dropped for Will Young ?

What's the likelihood of that happening
Shouldn't happen, Will Young is a very poor man's Devon Conway, looks all at sea against decent quality pace & spin bowling.

Was basically a walking wicket against Australia when he did replace an injured Conway.

And yes Conway's average has dropped below 40, but Young's is 26.

The only value NZ will get out of Young is as a back up middle order batsman to cover the likes of Mitchell or Ravindra in the middle order if they're injured.

Migara

International Coach
We need to drop Mendis and bring Sadeera in as the keeper. There were way more balls missed by the keeper. Drop Kumara and bring in Kasun Rajitha or Milan Ratnayake.

My team would be

DK, Nissanka, Chandimal, Mathews, Kamindu, DDS, Sadeera, Ratnayake, R. Mendis, Jayasuriya, Fernando

This makes it even worse that they flagged it as a possibility - which is actually praise-worthy - then played him over Henry. I'd love to hear the justification as to why Southee is a better pick in the XI than Henry, ignoring the captaincy (of which he isn't that much chop, anyway).

Who are the alternatives to open
Basically none, other than:
Young - a middle order player that we unsuccessfully tried to convert to an opener.
Rachin - opens domestically, but thought to be too loose to open in test cricket, which is probably correct for now. Still a question if he moves up in future or not.

Need a couple more options to emerge domestically.
