Strange innings. Not even getting through 45 overs is obviously terrible, as is somehow contriving to be 9/210 or whatever it was but that feels like... not a terrible score?

Could easily be run down in 35 overs of course.

It’s funny because of the fantastic one day team we had under Morgan but the Englishman in me still sees a 270 ODI target and goes hmmmmmm

Everytime you turn on tv and any type of match in England and Australia (esp England), the gallery seems to be full where as in Sub continent (supposedly cricket being more popular there), you see empty stands.

Good knock from Carey to give the Aussies a score to defend but it still looks short of par with about 5 overs left on the table.

Yeah, it's one of those innings when Aus felt at one stage they were heading for 300 and England at one stage thought they'd bowl them out for less than 220. I'm not sure I see such an inexperienced England side winning at a canter, but hopefully we won't do the opposite, and obviously the series would benefit from an England win.

Well that's interesting, Green dropped?

Maxwell, Starc and Hazlewood back, Green, Dwarshuis and Abbott out.

Basically becomes Short and Hardie preferred to Green. Maybe it's because Short is opening and Hardie is again nominated as the 3rd seamer
Maybe greens just bring rested? Played all the t20s in the build up to this and unlike hardie they want him playing and bowling vs India.

Starc coming off a long break is so consistently just an awful bowler. Really needs a lot of rhythm before he bowls properly.
