Trouble for these two series is from Blundell downwards they’re mostly sitting ducks against quality spin. Top 5 really needs to do the bulk of the work obviously, but Phillips’ role becomes more crucial as a result.

Daryl Mitchell forgetting that Glenn Phillips has ADHD and will run at any half opportunity was the start of the rot. That was criminal. Not backing up when GP is your batting partner is a death wish.
Then Santner got pumped up by the commentators as a decent average with 24 (Matt Henry's is 22) and nicked out second ball, Southee tried to cut a half volley, Ajaz played around a straight one like Conway did, and O'Rourke did his best while GP did his thing.
