Nope. India aren't Pakistan, who don't even mentally turn up. Ironically you're the one singling out a passage of play. I only regret not posting my thoughts at tea rather than waiting till now. Never thought Bangladesh had the class to finish things properly.
Dont know what you are trying to establish here. Many here esp HB tend to gambhir and its well known who regularly follow the match threads. OVERALL the consensus seemed to be India to be getting out of trouble if not with the bat then surely with the ball.

Depends on what you rate higher and I assume were just talking in test matches.

Top order batsman always get more plaudits than bowlers/allrounders in the ATG conversations.

I'd have the biggest reason India have been invincible at home is because of Ash/Jadeja more than Kohli.

If your going for Sachin as 1st a then you've got Sunny G, Dev, Dravid, Kumble and Kohli along with Ash/Jadeja battling it out as who is next in the list.
Well I think Sachin, Gavaskar and Kapil are my top 3. I have Ashwin definitely ahead of Kohli and on par with Dravid/Kumble. Any of them can make the top 5. Jadeja for me makes it just after Kohli.

Ashwin ahead of Kumble behind Dravid. For me

Sachin
Kapil
Gavaskar
Dravid
Ashwin
Kohli
Kumble
Sehwag
Laxman
Jadeja
Bumrah

are the top XI. If you wanted to make an XI out of it,

Gavaskar
Sehwag
Dravid (wc)
Tendulkar
Kohli
Laxman
Dev
Jadeja
Ashwin
Kumble
Bumrah

Its not a half bad team, probably unbeaten wins any other countries AT XI in India.

My top 10 would be:
Sachin
Gavaskar
Kapil
Dravid
Ashwin
Kumble
Kohli
Jadeja
Laxman
Sehwag

And the AT Xi
Gavaskar
Sehwag
Dravid
Sachin
Kohli
Pant
Jadeja
Kapil
Ashwin
Shami
Bumrah

My Top 5 would be - (Tests only)

1) Sachin
2) Kapil
3) Ashwin (for now)
4) Kumble
5) Jadeja

6) Gavaskar
7) Dravid
8) Kohli

Jadeja and Ashwin are constantly winning games with both ball and bat. It's insane. Ashwin if he keeps this up for another 2 years, I'd have him 2nd. And Jadeja can be moved up to 4th if he gets 400+ wickets.

I am rating matchwinners higher.

That was an incredible 1st day. Test cricket is king. Bdesh started well, did even better then got some R&R from India in return.

Sachin, Kapil and Jadeja are my top three Indian ATGS in that order with Ashwin being a close fourth.

I have watched Kumble's career completely and while being a great bowler, he has not been as effective as these two. Even Bhajji won a series on his own. Kumble rarely bundled out and dominated the opposition in a whole series because of which India couldn't win many tests even with a kickass batting lineup. Ashwin and Jadeja have won India so many tests and series on their own with both bat and ball without much support from the batsmen or the pacers.

Kumble, Srinath and Prasad have frustrated me so much in my childhood that I had to bank on the likes of Agarkar, Mohanty etc. to come good and win tests for India when they debuted.

Bumrah already in top ten even if he doesn’t take a single additional wicket. I know it’s only 36 Tests but india are so thin at that position that no all time india XI could possibly leave him out - so that fact alone should get him in there.

If you ask “without anyone arguing, who would make the India test all time XI, home or away?”

Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Dravid, Kohli, Kapil dev and Bumrah would be on that list. You can make at least a theoretical case for a lot of players in the other five spots but not for those six.

anyone who says with anyone on that list would not make the XI will be immediately blocked.
