South Africa team selection

While I agree with you there, the one criticism I do have is that some of the players picked are never going to make it even to SA A. Not to take a way anything from Lesego Senokwane's 280 in the last match, but he's 27 with a first class average of 28 after 43 matches. Was there not someone else who's a more realistic future prospect who could have been picked?
I get what you are saying. Senokwane actually passes the eye test. Looks really good technically. But it's the runs that matter and I would say only him and Mpongwana got top tier domestic hundreds for BA in the country that were sort of new and weren't Bavuma, de Zorzi, Qeshile, Zondo. I don't mind the odd case like him (because he does seem to be on an upward curve) but the SA A selection of Dithole is even more pointless. To think he is selected and not Jordan Hermann. If they really wanted to to standby Brand.

I think if we are being critical and rightly so, then guys I mentioned at the bottom like King, Prince, R Herrman deserve to be there.

In terms of African talent, I would have picked Maphaka if school was not an issue, I would have also picked Qeshile whose still only 25, and he could have used the Emerging series as prep for the A team, I would also have had a look at Richard Seletswane who helped SA Emerging win the Div 2 One Day Cup last season.
Is the SA-Emerging team competing in the Div 2 50-over again?

Quite liked the concept although it was tough for planning getting young players not being used by Div 1 provinces. The good point was preparing SA U19s playing against men though.

Always good to see who is in the SA U19 mix. Whether they choose some of the matrics not eligible for the next U19 CWC or not. They playing England in Jan next year.

CSA really has to make these Emerging tours official games ..

Zim Emerging has some players that have played for their national team, and it must be heartbreaking to score 280 and it doesn't count towards your FC batting average because the match has not been given FC status ..

We play so little red ball cricket, we should be making these games matter.

I hope so, it was a great initiative and I mean if a side wins the whole competition they should have a permanent place !

Dian Forrester impressed yet again ..
38 not out and 3/28 ..

Senokwane made 89 off 78

Crushing win in the 50 over game for SA Emerging against Zim Emerging..won by 7 wickets chasing 235

Maphaka getting fast tracked. Called up for the t20i's vs West Indies.

Maphaka should have played for SA Emerging ahead of the T20 series.
He hasn't bowled in 5 months that's a tough ask to jump into international cricket just like that but I wish him luck ..

I would have liked to see some more spinners in the squad, seems like Fortuin is the only specialist spinner, we've picked 5 seamers (Ngidi, Baartman, Burger, Williams, Maphaka) and 3 seaming all rounders (Mulder , Smith,Kruger), does seem like overkill ..

The young leggie Peter was dropped from the squad I thought that was harsh.

Does this coincide with the SA A series at all? It does seem like none of those guys selected were picked. Linde is in the bad books & Subrayen/Muthusamy are in the A squads.

Not sure on still picking Rassie over Breetzke makes sense. MB is in those A squads so maybe they want him playing and seeing him in the other formats the only explanation. Reeza is also debatable. Maybe deserves a little lee-way but he has always been a massively hot and cold player.

Wasn't available. Currently busy finishing matric.. school holidays during this series so can play.
Peter is completing rehad for a shoulder injury.

The T20s are from the 23rd to the 27th and the A series starts with an ODI on the 31st. It's not impossible for players to feature in both but it is a little tight, so maybe you've hit the nail on the head.

The batting was the batting in this series. We still demand more.

I can't see any changes for the Bangladesh test series. Marco Jansen still rested. Nortje unavailable & maybe Coetzee comes back in for Migael Pretorius.

That top 5 is set for these 6 tests I reckon & Verreynne & Mulder probably did enough to keep their spots although the pitches in Banga will be different to what Mulder bowled on in this last test match.

I've always liked Piedt & whilst we don't have Harmer he is good to come in next as we've seen. Thought it interesting they went Muthusamy for the 50-over A team and Subrayen the FC A team as you probably think the spinner all-rounder like Muthusamy might have been the outsider for Bangladesh tests.

Sometimes you can only laugh at the reporting concerning brevis. Did the reporters really need to waste Rob's time to learn brevis hasn't scored enough runs.

This kid is going down the wrong path , if he's not playing for the Proteas he should be trying to get in county cricket and honing his game, instead he plays every T20 league under the sun ..

Worse part he isn't even playing in the leagues . He is sitting on the bench most times.
