Haha I was literally just thinking about how suspicious Flo Jo's 1988 records and her entire career are.
Speaking ill of the dead. smdh. Fact she keeled over with a last whinny at age 38 is of course pure coincidence.

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Track events at those Olympics were not only massive but the hypocrisy was off the charts

Ben Johnson became public enemy number 1 because Carl Lewis was the golden boy & the latter’s behaviour only added fuel to the fire

Then throw in FloJo ….

It was only later following revelation of widespread doping by the majority that things calmed down a bit while rumours surrounding Lewis’ private life did nothing for his rep either

Pretty crazy times

France and GB coming strong late, splitting up the East Africans like it's Somaliland in the 1890s.

Our president has extolling the virtue of exporting hundreds of thousands of Kenyans abroad so...🤷🏾‍♂️

How so? He wanted to frontrun, and very accurately predicted needing a close to WR time in order to do so successfully. Just didn't seem to have quite enough on the day.
He believed the only man he had to beat was Kerr and given his best was 2 seconds faster he adopted that strategy. But that best was done with a pacemaker which is exactly what he turned himself into. He left himself a sitting duck. Would’ve been better off leading but gradually winding it up, not going full on from the start.

I’m still not entirely certain how Hocker turned around previous form with Kerr who seemed to run the perfect race really. But it was a fantastic and immensely intriguing race.

Man how awesome would it have been to be the Spanish walker there having the race completely sewn up and basically able to do a full lap of honour before you even finish

I thought Hocker very quietly ran a really impressive semi final, he was right on the shoulder of both Kerr and Ingebrigsten and looked easy through the last 100m. That was the reason behind my post after the semi where I brought up the possibility of someone else coming through the middle with Kerr and Ingebrigsten focusing too much on each other.

I said to my fiancée when the athletes were making their entrances that I thought Hocker would win. Shame I don't bet.

Whew, what a relief to see Kerr clear that last attempt in the high jump.
