Worst Sport/Event in the 2024 Olympics - submissions

Mine was Gen 4. But you’d assume a Pokemon olympics would theoretically be double battles like VGC and I could never get into doubles.

I could never get into competitive pokemon. Worrying about EVs/IVs and all the tactics just ruins it for me

I'll stick with solo running the games with my starter thanks

This is exactly why I went to Gen II. That's before EVs existed in the game (well they exist, but you just max them across the board in competitive play, so don't have to worry about them).

But the latter playstyle is hella fun too.

Well yeah. Its the “Official” Format. And because of that, VGC has a larger playerbase. Or maybe they’ll make it two seperate events, singles and doubles like tennis. (probably 3v3)

So many terrible takes in here equestrian, climbing, all forms of gymnastics, skateboarding, all massively belong. Super weird, highly specialised. Just take an edible or have a drink and enjoy ffs.

The most egregiously dire are breaststroke/backstroke swimming and the sports that have much bigger competitions like golf/football that needs a 7s Rugby style variant for the Olympics.

Give us mini-putt golf, give us 3 a side basketball and 5 a side football.

Olympic boxing can get in the bin. Pentathlon should be changed to something else too, randomise the events at the start of the games. Lets see these fit ****ers throw a discus, perform a rhythmic gymnastics routine, swim 400m, play some badminton and climb a ****ing wall.

I think mostly what this thread suggests is that outside of some of the "non-pinnacle" events and potentially a few of the judges scoring events, that even if you think an event is dire, someone else probably loves it.

I disagree, what I got of this thread is that everyone agrees that rowing, sailing and the horse stuff blows

Agree to throw the doors open. This is the anti IPL, where people who train for their random niche sport around their real jobs get to go on TV and it means everything to them.

They are given 3 months ahead of the games with professional coaching to learn then compete across 5 randomly chosen events (1 athletic, 1 swimming, 1 combat, 1 gymnastics, 1 riding). Spectators can throw rocks.

As well as points scored during the events, additional points for funniest moment as voted for by viewers and most viral social media post.
