Same, this is how teams build and be competitive. Hopefully this is a shift of paradigm and somehow forces Boards and the ICC to consider the value of this.Hope it's true
If not, Ireland is the next closest test team to arrange a series with.Don't think Sri Lanka are keen on playing more tests than what they are schedule with the ftp.
Now would have been a good time to get some A cricket in the Caribbean.
I'm more and more convinced that Alzarri needs to rest for the South Africa series. If they bring Roach back, Alzarri has to miss out. You can't drop Shamar or Jayden. The Caribbean Cricket Podcast guys did a live show on Monday where what to do with Alzarri was discussed. Since we don't stand a chance to make the WTC finals, why not bring in one of the better performers from the domestic circuit in and groom them well like how we brought Shamar. Alzarri is a better white ball bowler than red ball. His style of bowling is back of a length and gets too predictable. Looking at how Jayden attacks outside the sixth stump and seeing Alzarri bowling without his head is frustrating.
As for Sinclair, he was genuinely shellshocked. I'd back him to face the fire again.
I’d rest him enough for him to retire from tests. He doesn’t have the same cricketing brain or basic knowledge of how to bowl in Tests. It’s always short short short lengths. Agreed. Shamar can bowl 90 mph and play that role. Alzarri's batting has been terrible for two years now, totally lacking responsibility. I've had enough of him, let him lead the white ball attack.I’d rest him enough for him to retire from tests. He doesn’t have the same cricketing brain or basic knowledge of how to bowl in Tests. Still boggles my mind why Shamar is a number 11…Agreed. Shamar can bowl 90 mph and play that role. Alzarri's batting has been terrible for two years now, totally lacking responsibility. I've had enough of him, let him lead the white ball attack.
Who have you got as possible replacements? McKeznzie and A Joseph *have* to go imo, Brathwaite and Holder would go to in an ideal world but have the advantage of relatively acceptable records to save them if there's not a someone at least fairly like-for-like to come in. Although for Holder, you could reasonably take the view that a potentially better batsman is worth the on paper-sacrifice of balance.Who gets dropped after that horrible series against England?
1. Kraigg (?)
2. Kirk
3. Alzarri (**** off!)
4. Jason Holder (?)
For Kirk and Alzarri, I think it’s much more fluid to replace them…bold as it is to remove the vice-captain.Who have you got as possible replacements? Are you sticking with Louis on the basis of a 50 in his last innings? I don't necessarily disagree (again depends on potential replacements), but you can't say he had a good series
I think you're spot on. Kirk and Alzarri go. Whoever scores a hundred or big 50 in the warm up replaces Kirk or failing that, Imlach does. For Kirk and Alzarri, I think it’s much more fluid to replace them…bold as it is to remove the vice-captain.
Kirk—> Kelvin Wickham, Kevlon Anderson, Imlach, etc
Alzarri—> Anderson Phillip, Jeremiah Louis, Nial Smith, etc…Nial is in the same mold as Shamar Joseph; raw pace and swings it more. Also, uses his head more than Alzarri.
Kraigg is in a lean patch for his standards. This is a dude that’s renown for grinding opposition bowlers down, but somehow his batting in this series has been scratchy. His replacement is not set in stone.
Jason Holder’s bowling is not the same it was 4-5 years ago. He’s regressed. And if he plays more like a batting all-rounder, then he’s gonna have to score big. His replacement, Justin Greaves (same dude who came in for him in the Australian tour). I’m sure there’s others who will want to take up this spot as well.
As for Mikyle, I’d stay with him.
A depth chart needs to be made…
We'll see what changes they make to the squad that toured England. Alzarri is spent. Kirk is definitely getting the drop. Rumors of Keacy and Shai Hope making a return.I think you're spot on. Kirk and Alzarri go. Whoever scores a hundred or big 50 in the warm up replaces Kirk or failing that, Imlach does.
Alzarri is pretty replaceable, at the very least he desperately needs a rest, he has played every series for 2 years now.
Kraigg can't be replaced, we don't have the depth.
Holder I would replace with a proper batsman or one who bowls a bit like Kevin Wickham. He is not a number 6 and his bowling is not what it once was.
Who's he trying to kid!The issue is not money
Russell sounds so damn ignorant, Test Cricket is the Big Stage , it's the fruit and vegetables of the cricketing world, you may not like your fruit and veggies but it's necessary for a healthy body..No $hit, Sherlock,
Russell: Some West Indies players are 'just not interested in playing Tests'
The issue is not money, but that youngsters want to play on the big stage, Russell argueswww.espncricinfo.com
I think its unfair to call him ignorant and whilst I do think money is part of the issue, I don't think its the only issue.Russell sounds so damn ignorant, Test Cricket is the Big Stage , it's the fruit and vegetables of the cricketing world, you may not like your fruit and veggies but it's necessary for a healthy body..
T20 is junk food it seems nice to eat but it comes with big risks you don't see.
Without the fundamentals of redball cricket you produce inferior cricketers and that will effect other formats aswell which West Indies found out when they now struggle to qualify for tournaments. Most of the teams that are consistently successful have a strong FC and Test side it's not rocket science Russell, you invest in Tests because it creates better players, better players earn more money for their boards and themselves
