This seems like some weird sort of trap or trick question, but yeah I guess I do ( when I'm not strictly against making such comparisons between batsmen and bowlers, of course ).

the insecurities are people like you obsessed with arbitrary performances in random placesits one thing for white people to say this **** but a brown guy drinking this piss says a lot about their insecurities
Absolutely ****ing not, nope, the line was all the way back there and you just careened straight over it.its one thing for white people to say this **** but a brown guy drinking this piss says a lot about their insecurities
I think it’s very hard to make a case for Ashwin over Dravid (50+ average in and out of india). I can see a case for Ashwin over anyone else in tests, but if you consider all forms, there’s no case for Ashwin over Kohli either. There is a difference between greatest and most important.
Either way, I think Kapil, Sachin, Gavaskar as top 3 sounds about right and there is every reason to consider Ash #4 as anyone else from Indian cricket. What is stupid is people thinking its not an arguable case, either way.
spot onIndia has been such a **** tour for most overseas batsmen, due to a combination of spin friendly conditions and general lack of ability playing in those conditions. For this reason Ashwin, as valuable as he is, has never been as important as India's great batsmen were, because he is much more easily replaceable. Look at the stats of Jadeja, Axar, Kuldeep etc. Bowling spin as an Indian in India is a buffet, if Ashwin wasn't around someone else would have done it, certainly not as well but not that much worse.
You can't use that logic with Gavaskar, Sachin, Dravid, Kohli or maybe even a couple others. Without Dravid, India are a lot worse off in comparison than without Ashwin
The bolded is where all the difference in interpretation lies. I do think the difference would be worse enough for India to drop more tests at home. Look at Nadeem, Ojha, Washy, Axar (in the last England series). Kuldeep is a more recent find. If we didn’t have Ashwin during most of his career at home it would be a pretty massive blow.India has been such a **** tour for most overseas batsmen, due to a combination of spin friendly conditions and general lack of ability playing in those conditions. Ashwin > Sehwag imoFor me, it will be
Sachin
Gavaskar
Kohli
Dravid
Dev
Sehwag
Ashwin
Kumble
Mankad
Jadeja
Same, just a better cricketer IMO. And not fat, which offends my fragile Australian sensibilitiesI will have Jadeja ahead of Ashwin
Sorry but this hasn't been the case historically. Regardless of the conditions stereotyping (which also involves basically ignoring all the times people average in excess of 60 in India for a substantial amount of time), India was never the sort of dominant home side they were until the likes of Ashwin and Jadeja came through. You can clearly see this in their records since. Ashwin is absolutely vital there as the leading wicket taker and handy batter down the order.India has been such a **** tour for most overseas batsmen, due to a combination of spin friendly conditions and general lack of ability playing in those conditions. Ashwin has more centuries outside Asia than Babar Azam. What does it prove?Famed Pakistani spinner Abdul Qadir has 3 more 5’fers in 9 fewer games in SENA.
