Yep, he's scored 7 50+ scores in 10 innings. At 33 he still must be up there as next middle order bat for Aus now that Renshaw crashed and burned again (unless they go with youth in Davies)
Hardie ahead of handscomb maybe? Bancroftfhas definitely pushed himself to the top of the opener queue. If smith fails vs india could we see Smith to 5 and head out if the latter doesn't make runs?

Reckon he’s too old and they will go for a young guy if a middle order replacement is required

I can't see Marsh lasting the summer, so I can see Bancroft opening with Smith back to 4 with Green at 6

(I'd rather see Labuschagne open, Smith at 3 with Green, Head and Davies at 6)

Agree with your lineup

What's wrong with marsh? Had a good home series vs PAK after the ashes and made a clutch 4th innings 80 vs NZ in his last innings.

He made 156 runs @ 22.29 vs West Indies and New Zealand series, so 76 runs @ 12.66 with 2 ducks in a row before that 80 in his last Test innings

With his overall history he should only ever be as good as his last Test (maybe 2)

Heads last 4 series:
362 @36.2 vs eng in eng
81 @16.2 vs pak
119 @39.67 vs WI (119 and 2 ducks)
69 @17.25 vs Nz in nz

Marnus's last 4 series
328 @32.8 ENG
207 @41.4 vs PAK
19 @6.3 vs WI
99 @24.75 vs NZ

Marsh is far from our biggest concern RN.

I don't know stats but from memory Marsh has been probably our best performer over the last year

Head is the one who's living off past glories

Aussie squads announced for UK ODI/T20 tour between 4-29 September. I'm assuming all of the ODI players will now miss the first round of Shield?

Both squads (4-29 Sep): Mitch Marsh (c), Nathan Ellis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Adam Zampa

T20 only (4-15 Sep): Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Tim David, Spencer Johnson, Marcus Stoinis

ODI only (19-29 Sep): Sean Abbott, Alex Carey, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc

Any reason Tanveer Sangha isn't in any of these squads?
Not expecting to need a lot of spin in the UK I guess. Zampa the only specialist picked and Maxwell/Head/Short are all decent part-timers. Batting all-rounders really (and I guess Tim David who throws it)

Surprised to find he's already played 2 ODI's and 7 T20I's (obviously missed it)

Does Australia need a spinner that can't bat as he has pretty terrible batting stats. In FC he averages 2.50, while in 50 over stuff he averages 1.33. He does average 9.00 in T20 but that has 7 out of 11 not outs to boost it.

Did you know Ben McDermott has played 25 T20Is? Somehow missed all of them

It's a joke these days

I'll be pretty irritated if a single player in selection contention misses a Shield game because of this "series".

Shield season announced. First round not until 8th October so all Aussie white ball players will be back from UK. That gives 3 rounds of shield before 1st Test squad selected with first 2 in October having no international conflict.
