Poor longevity compared to other 50+ batsmen and poor record against Aus, SA, and SLWhy is Yousuf rated so low? He and Chanderpaul have very poor reputations on this board among batsmen with 50+ average.

Probably also that he had one absolutely amazing year rather than many consistently top quality years.Poor longevity compared to other 50+ batsmen and poor record against Aus, SA, and SL
I’d still rather have a batsman who can succeed both in and outside of Asia, rather than someone like Mahela, who is only a threat in Asia.FTB, minnow basher, and mostly played in an easy era too.
Mahela is pretty poorly regarded too for someone who scored a mountain of runs at his average.I’d still rather have a batsman who can succeed both in and outside of Asia, rather than someone like Mahela, who is only a threat in Asia.
Mahela and Yousuf are quite equals, isn't it? Also, I think Sehwag and Warner have the opener credits plus strike rate credits. Else, they are of similar category too.Mahela is pretty poorly regarded too for someone who scored a mountain of runs at his average.
Not sure who I think is better.
I put Sehwag a level above despite his scoring rate, not because of it.Mahela and Yousuf are quite equals, isn't it? Also, I think Sehwag and Warner have the opener credits plus strike rate credits. Else, they are of similar category too.
Mahela was significantly better than Yousuf in Asia though. I'd probably still take Yousuf but think it's debatable when he wasn't very good in India&Sri Lanka while Mahela was a colossus in Asia.I’d still rather have a batsman who can succeed both in and outside of Asia, rather than someone like Mahela, who is only a threat in Asia.
