*Official* England in India 2023/24 #CryMoreTour

A really good toss for India to win and they've made pretty good use of it.

There was a bit early on for Wood in particular and we made good use of that.

But as the pitch flattened out, the partnership between Rohit and Jadeja was crucial. We had our chances and our reviews weren't great either.

Great knock on debut from Sarfarez and was sold down the river for his run out.

I thought we bowled OK but the pitch is turning and will continue to do so which is a worry.

India's day for me.
Agree with all that - Rohit winning the toss could be as important as scoring a ton.

But the theory is that Day 2 will actually be best for batting here, England need to make certain they're doing that by Lunch. Anything later and they've got big issues.

Going to be groggy today but Sarfaraz's knock was worth staying up for. That has to be one of the most confident debuts in recent years. Premature to make any kind of long-term assessment but at the very least he looked in full command against spin without doing anything unorthodox.
he should be in the team only because he can play spin in his sleep

unlike the others the pressure on him to become a white ball specialist is also less so hopefully he doesnt ruin his technique for tests like Rahul and Mayank did

YJ's debut was as domineering as can be...and he had to battle the behemoth, Rahkeem Cornwall of Antigua.

Also sets up some questions for when Kohli and Rahul come back and they can pick only one of Gill and Sarfaraz. At least for the immediate future until the oldies start phasing out.

Sarfaraz needs to prove he can do it on something other than a flat Day 1 pitch in Rajkot when there's been 2 other centurions - as debuts go, they don't get a lot easier.

True enough. Our middle order has been bad against spin for so long that it's easy to get carried away.
