***Official*** Under-19 World Cup- South Africa 2024

Great group of kids , most of them should go far if the administrators in SA cricket don't mess things up.
Maphaka the greatest U19 World Cup bowler ever statistically
I would say the all-round class players look : Pretorious and Maphaka
Potential to go far : Norton & Luus
Limited overs specialists : Stolk and Marais

Juan James has played for WP this season but I don't see it. Teeger and Seletswane have good techniques but they may take some time to get to Senior level.

Yeah, that's roughly how I saw it too (maybe less so Norton). I'm not overall convinced though that this is a vintage tournament.

Yeah I was going to comment on Juan James. Started the tournament at 8 as well. His bowling looks a little better than part time so I don't understand what his role is?

The commentary team mentioned James hadn't taken a wicket all tournament and he is sending down 8 overs in the semi-final. Easy in hindsight, but Maphaka should have been bowled out before the 30th. From what I saw this morning, the Indian captain and Das were completely untroubled against the secondary bowlers. The quality gap was huge.

If Teeger hadn't been stripped of the captaincy (not that he had a very good tournament either), would James even have played?

Thought the other semi was today but it's actually tomorrow.

Odd.
Yeah me too. Was about to stick it on. Annoying as I've got to go to London tomorrow whilst now I've got nothing to keep me entertained until the SA20 starts.

if australia beats india in the final with a 2 day shorter break, it will be the greatest underdog story since the 2023 ODI WC

Second semi has started and Pakistan going nowhere in the powerplay. The Aussies haven't even bowled particularly well, but the openers have been completely incapable of putting bad balls away and have now both perished to rubbish shots to not especially good balls.
