*Official* England in India 2023/24 #CryMoreTour

BazBall21

International Captain
God those ball assessments are tedious. India fans on here used to hate them. Typical pesky English crying when the ball isn't hopping around corners.

There were spikes on ultra edge (or whatever they're using) long before the ball got to the bat and there was no clear and distinct spike when the ball passed the bat. It was all "noise". I wouldn't be surprised if ultra edge isn't working properly and that's why the feed took so long.
Agreed. He got the benefit of doubt, got away with one.

Pope for Brook in any conditions is a downgrade but particularly this.
Nah. Brook hasn't ever been convincing against spin in indian conditions either, looked clueless in the IPL last year. From what i saw in the ashes he doesn't look like he's ready to handle batting 3, either. Atleast pope has shown some ability to produce runs at 3.

Whatever it takes!!!
I am no fan of Pope and I dont think he is particularly likely to make big runs against spin but an Ian Bell level player is fine at 3 for this line up and its not like much better ones are waiting in the shed, maybe that Bohannon kid with the Lions but let him fail a few times first, FFS.

I get the point KP makes about trusting your defence and being more relaxed when playing your first few balls but I am almost convinced he is simply confusing playing off the backfoot as playing with a relaxed mindset. Pope was definitely nervous out there and more nervous than Jonny B but playing off the backfoot for everything does not always mean you are in control FFS.

Stokes would be at 3 if Brook was here

The deflection off Root's bat was clear, they shouldn't have even needed snicko imo
