***Official*** Pakistan in Australia 2023/24

Or he might be decent for five minutes and then become awful. Pakistan isn't lacking in raw bowling talent but nurturing it so it grows rather than fades is their problem. Shaheen is showing a good example of this right now.
Shaheen was a case of workload mismanagement which shouldn’t affect this dude since Pakistan don’t play many tests anyways

There are other formats of cricket and competitions going around that people do play - indeed, they are where Shaheen picked up his injuries.

Must admit I thought that was good night nurse for Usman. Pitch really looks like it's playing tricks now.
Yeah we can laugh at Wilson getting another decision wrong but it looked like while it was kind of close as to whether it was in-line it was probably in line and looked plumb otherwise. And the Smith one looked 60/40 out live.

On a semi-related note, why do balls need to be in-line of the stumps as well as hitting? It's something I've never quite understood.

The intent of the LBW law is to stop batsmen jamming up games by simply standing in front of the stumps and using them as a risk free line of defence; that's less the case when the ball is delivered from wider and comes back in and hits outside the one.

Yeah still think that rule doesn't necessarily make total sense. Would be a huge change to cricket, specifically the balance between bat and ball, without it though

bro he has the 4th highest overs bowled among pacers in international cricket in the last 3 years and unlike the other 3 above him he also plays in multiple t20 leagues

i will be shocked if Shahzad ends up having anywhere near the same workload

Oh gawd, just what they need against Marsh - gentle off breaks.

Also, there's no one in the ground to throw it back.

Right but given the way the rule developed, it does make sense where they've landed. The 19th century version of the law required all of hitting the stumps, hitting in line and pitching in line and it had to be tweaked in favour of the bowler.

My view is that LBW is a fundamentally less interesting and less robust mode of dismissal than any other and with the necessary changes induced by DRS, any further changes in favour of the bowler would make the game less interesting.
