Assuming everyone is fit, the xi is probably

1.Jaiswal
2.Rohit
3.Gill?
4.Kohli
5.?
6.Kishan/Pant
7.Jadeja

If iyer doesn't bat 5 who does? Rahane? Iyer has issues vs the short ball but he's a step above the other options india have for that spot AFAIK.

Whatever it takes!!!
I think they see him as an opener/MO bat. And a lot of the FC numbers even today in India have to be taken with a pinch of salt. He kinda passes the eye test and personally, I do think he is way too talented to be wasted in just FC and white ball stuff.

Is gaikwad the next best redball bat in india or do the selectors just rate IPL more than ranji? His fc record looks pretty ordinary.
had his best season last year iirc and as hb says does well on the eye test

still dont think its his best format but at this point doesnt hurt to give him a go and see if he can do something

I don’t know where else to post this…I’m currently watching the highlights of the 2nd T20 of the current series.

Jaiswal is a mixture of Ganguly, Yuvraj, and a tiny bit of Ishan Kishan.

This guy is over talented. Crazy

Why bring KL back? He got dropped after being dog****, particularly away from home for a while (outside that england series and one knock in SA).
He’s good imo. Pretty versatile too as he can bat anywhere in the order. I’d like him to be picked ahead of Iyer for SA, and maybe slot him in at 3 and let Gill have a shot batting down the order. But fine if he bats 5 too.

Harshal Patel has played a key role. I think he has the basics to be a good bowling option in white ball cricket for India but he has to work hard and be more consistent with his strengths.

He can bat a little too. Too bad he’s 33 so I wouldn’t keep him in the ODI plans. A good IPL could see him win back a T20 spot from Arshdeep who seems to have lost it a bit.

He has to be more rounded as a bowler. Just can't carry seam bowlers who can't bowl in the powerplay.
