Tbf we lost a 5 day WTC final this year too. I think we r simply not that suited to English conditions.

We had injuries though. Changes things a lot, especially when you see who's performing right now at the WC.
This is why you guys will never progress. You waste time worrying about proving others weak and zero efforts to make yourself better. This is precisely why, you guys couldn't win against any decent side.
Became no.1 by playing and beating minnows. Continued that in WC - 8 points by beating who? Couldn't even beat the team that got thrashed by everyone except Bangladesh and Netherlands
For sure NZ played great cricket.
But that Indian team had flaws and not as settled as this team, #4 was playing musical chair, just one man scoring 5 centuries was why India dominated league phase. Vijay Shankar was picked without any experience so he was in and out.
This time top 5 all have scored centuries except for Gill who also has good string of good contribution.

Yeah but none of what the current team does has any bearing on that result. The 2019 semis NZ played better than us and won. Saying they "got lucky" is really just salt on our part.

That is also the same number of Olympic medals won by Pakistan in the last 30 years. Largest country to have not medaled in the Olympics in the last 7 editions.
It is the fate of every Pakistani to watch India succeed in every walk of life as the countries diverge further, and feel envy and depression. It will be a long painful life for most of you who wants India and Pakistan to remain "sem2sem".
There was lots of soul searching and sadness in Pakistan when India's moon mission succeeded. Don't worry, we will give you more reasons to feel bad throughout the years.

Toss won't be as significant as people seem to believe. You may win the toss and lose 2 wickets early on and struggle to get 250 and thus lose the match.
The ball does nip around even in the 1st innings, not just under the lights. In the Ind-SL match, Lanka could have easily had India 3 down for 50 but they dropped some catches.
One of the key reasons that 1st innings scores at Mumbai have been high is because better teams have batted 1st and made it count and that too against bowlers bowling in hot conditions! (Conditions now have eased however. No longer that hot or humid).
Games at Wankede-
SA v England
Ind v Sri Lanka
SA v Bangaldesh
Ofcourse you were gonna get big scores first up in these matches with SA and Ind batting 1st and low scores in the 2nd innings for the weaker teams as they crumbled under a huge score.
Switch the innings around and you'd still have SA and India winning comfortably IMO as they'd chase down smaller totals.
FTR, even in the 2011 world cup final between India and Sri Lanka, India were chasing 275 and were 30/2 because the ball always has nipped around in Mumbai and both Sehwag and Tendulkar had nicked off, but once you pass through the first 10 or 12 overs, the conditions become a lot favourable for batting even under lights and with some dew setting in later, if you keep wickets in hand, you can chase totals down TBH, like India showed in 2011 final and Australia with Maxwell.
So whoever wins the toss could end up losing just as easily as they could end up winning. Have to make the toss count or else it'll be over with 250/260 very chaseable

On topic, I think India should have played both Kuldeep and Shami in 2019. They were both very good in the series earlier that year.
Funny thing - there was some foreshadowing earlier in a few of the matches.

Dropping Jadhav for DK/Pant was also silly. India chopped and changed too much. One of my worry at the start of this world cup was that India will again make big changes in panic in middle of the world cup campaign. Credit to Rohit for sticking with his plans (except of course when injury forced his hands)

I think Dravid deserves a lot of credit for that as well tbh. One thing we know about Dravid is, while soft-spoken, he is one of those guys who will stand by his thought processes come hell or high water. Its the same reason we saw Shreyas and Rahul walk back into their positions when they came back from injury. It has been a stance he has always been on, consistently.
