It's said that a good indication of the total is to double the score at 30 overs.

India are 131/3 so they'll be looking at least to get 265/270.
nearly mentioned that one, Aggers loves it! I was going to follow on and ask if it is still relevant as sides push for 400.... might have a look at some of the bigger scores see what they were (roughly, not necessarily precisely) at halfway

AUS 399/8 vs HOL (160/2 after 23.3 overs, 244/3 after 36.1 overs)
SAF 382/5 vs BAN (167/3 after 30.4 overs)

AUS 388 (228/3 after 29.4 overs) vs NZL 383/9 (222/4 after 31.2 overs)
AUS 367/9 vs PAK (259/1 after 33.5 overs)

I could go into cricinfo and find exact scores, but that site drains memory like a vampire sucks blood, and that is enough to work out if big scores work same as when used to go all out after 35-40 overs with middle overs a trudge

aussies fell short in two of those, kiwis also would have won had double the score worked surely? saffers added 50 on top of double the score, which in a game can be more than game winning margins - until recent games.

Just had a look at the line ups and india is packing a pretty bad tail today. England a real chance if they can grab another couple soonish

came back to say England really need to push for wickets, and seem more content to bowl non-entities like Ali and Livingstone doing FA than get the 2-3 wickets would give them a shot at keeping the total down

as it is all India needs is Rohit getting a fair chunk of the strike and others not getting out. England had India 40/3 inside 12 overs (just) and now with 15 overs to go even if they score at 4-5 rpo they could be posting 215-230 and quite probably more if England don't knock Rohit and 1-2 others over to expose said tail

even then England are more than capable of getting hit for 20s and 30s by Shami et al, still sticking to containment which was England old skool and got them nowhere. As little as most think about ODIs in terms of wickets you tend to win the vast majority of games if you lose less than your opponent and especially take 9-10

Very delicate time of the game, could be anywhere between 220-300 pending mainly on these two.
If Rohit carries his bat I'd expect 270-300 to be on the cards, especially as England seem keener on ER over wickets and that could be fatal, if it gets to 10 overs to go, Rohit, Yadav, with Jadeja and some Bumrah and Shami hitting to come I reckon 70-90 may be more possible than might be apparent from what has gone before.

England won the first 12 overs 40/3 and lost the last 24 123/1, may only be 5 an over but that would get you 250+ (factoring in acceleration then even more)
