I think the criticism has more been that they don't play ODIs anymore either. England have played amongst the least ODIs of any team since the last World Cup, and in many of those they played B and C teams. Not playing List A cricket doesn't matter if you've got a competitve group of players regularly playing ODIs, but they... didn't.

I do think that has played a part, especially since they did the total opposite in the last cycle.
Oh I'd agree with that criticism but what I've been specifically seeing is that they don't play domestic List A games and that just seems completely misplaced to me. When was the last time any top side had its internationals playing List A games?

Agree on that point, but Mark Butcher made the point that the fact our List A comp is basically a 2nd XI Trophy shows how poor the ECB’s attitude towards one day cricket is. And then you add that point I made earlier RE how are you going to make your case for selection. If you’re a promising youngster you’re probably playing in the Hundred. So then you have Brook and Atkinson picked on T20/long form ability and potential rather than 50 over credentials.
