Indian fans bad news and justified pessisim thread #FatRahiHai

The biggest problem we have is our batsmen playing for 100 more than victory. That's what happens when a generation grew up idolizing Dhoni and Sachin.

Ideally they should not give a **** about getting past 100.

There is hardly much difference between a 98* and 100*. It's an arbitrary milestone. But majority of cricket fans all around the world give too much importance to milestones and thus cricketers likewise.

Whatever it takes!!!
Our fielding and running between the wickets today was pathetic.

And yeah i wud rest Kuldeep and Bumrah now but not at the same time. Siraj Shami Hardik Ash Jaddu Kuldeep for the England game and then Bumrah for Kuldeep in the next game. Then rest Siraj for a game too.

I don’t have a problem with Kohli toying with the opposition to get a 100. There’s a bit of swagger associated with having fun with the game when the other team is struggling.

I also don’t think they should rest anyone, the matches are so far apart that you want to people fully match fit, and also we want to be seen to be dominating

You really have nothing of use to say.

They played for the victory and won easily in the end.

And Dhoni and Sachin got India to the top of the test rankings which had never happened before (despite having the likes of RP Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth headlining the attack). And they won the World Cup which this team good as it is has yet to do.

Will India have any answers to SA's batting?
They are destructively feasting on poor bowling in tailor made batting conditions after batting first each time. We will be in better position to pass judgement on their actual strength after the game at Kolkata.

Their chasing record has been quite ordinary btw.

However one thing is almost certain now, that they will make the top 4 even with 5 wins as their NRR is out of the world. So they just need to win 1 more from 4 games vs Pak, NZ, Ind, Afg.

There isn't a stats column for 98nos or 99nos, can't really blame the batsmen for wanting to notch up a hundred rather than 98no

obviously not to the detriment of the team but let's face it, if they are 98no then probably not going to make much difference if they focus on their hundred unless they take way too many balls up and therefore it is a balls up....

closest margins to date
runs
38 runs - HOL vs SAF
69 runs - AFG vs ENG

wkts
4 wkts - IND vs NZL
5 wkts - SRL vs HOL, AUS vs SRL

not exactly tight and tense finishes, India win would have been 5 wkts but for Kohli landmark but NRR matters more than margin. Certainly have been surprisingly few tight finishes considering there are now three upsets, two providing the lowers runs margins

As I said before, there's no way India would prefer to play Australia in the semi final at Mumbai neither would they want South Africa.

So even though, NZ is a bogey team, India would take NZ imo over Aus & SA on such a road of a pitch.

Agree?

IMO I can see India getting slaughtered by Australia at Wankede.

Need to avoid Aus in the semis at all costs.

I would absolutely rather play New Zealand than Australia or South Africa because they have the ability to take the game away and there’s nothing the other side can do about it.

India and New Zealand are more balanced sides

Yeah thats the concern. SA and especially Aus when they are on song, they will be no coming back. They will destroy you. One-sided match.

With NZ, if they play well, you still have a chance to fight back and get back into the match.
