India was effectively playing with 5 bowlers anyway. Thakur was mostly just a part-timer!! So just have Kohli bowl the 2 overs that Thakur would have bowled.

India only needs 2/5 wins now, even 1/5 should be enough given the NRR. So yeah match results are a bit irrelevant. All that matters is the two knockout matches.

First thing is first, got to throw Thakur out of the first XI.

Also India can perhaps consider resting Kuldeep.... you know.....

Ashwin can have a go, as NZ has 5 lefties in their top 8.

Gill
Rohit
Kohli
Iyer
Rahul
Ishan/Sky
Jadeja
Ashwin
Shami
Bumrah
Siraj

SKY can bowl some offies, so I would go with this lineup.

It completely ****s the balance.

We either take the risk of 5 bowlers by bringing in Ishan/Sky for Hardik and Shami for Shardul, or just bring in Ashwin for Hardik and Jadeja bats one position higher.

Neither is great but too bad all our batsmen refuse to learn passable offspin which is possibly the easiest thing in any sport to be competent at.
Rohit was quite good at it earlier in his career. Decided be cbf after a couple of injuries though.

I don't think Pandya will be able to bowl until like the 8th match (5 Nov) or 9th Match (12 Nov). Twisting his angle has to take at least 2-3 weeks for recovery.

Luckily world cup semi final is about 4 weeks away so he probably has time to get bowling fit by then.

Iyer is not inspiring confidence. Gill has also yet to play the way we expect.

Not looking good.

Sky isn’t bad for this format I think they just don’t know what his role is in the team the last year. Think they expect him to play more maturely and get in then start slogging. His never been suitable to that sort of role his the guy that you play up the order to get you a quick 30-50 and if he gets more then your in luck. That’s why I think his either up in the order or not in the team at all.

I think Bumrah would like to be the highest wicket taker in this WC
I’d honestly be resting Bumrah and maybe some the batters between games once a semi final spots achieved. Keep Bumrah as fit and fresh as they can without much injury risk. Also I think it’s important for guys in the middle order to get some form leading up to the knockouts like Gill, Shreyas, Sky etc

My point is Bumrah doesn't want any rest. He has his own personal milestones that he is chasing.

Can Suryakumar Yadav focus for more than a T-20 game? If Pandya comes back, Shami should stay and Yadav should go. Isn’t Kishan a better choice for one dayers than Yadav anyway?

Sky got run out. It’s a bit weird to use that against him as a sign he’s not fit for ODIs.

You can use the rest of his 30 games to make that point, but last night told us nothing.
