The way things are going , 5 wins might just be enough to scrape through ..

Assuming India and NZ win all their matches ..and SA get 3rd spot due to their healthy Net run rate ..

Australia could lose to England and NZ (NRR could be on the gutter)
= 4 defeats

England could lose to India and Pakistan (NRR is in the gutter)
= 5 defeats out of running

Pakistan could lose to SA and NZ
= 5 defeats out of running

Afghanistan beat Sri Lanka and Netherlands, lose narrowly to Australia then in the final group game they beat SA ..That leaves them with 5 wins could sneak through in 4th

5 wins looks definitely enough now with all the upsets that’s been happening. You could legit have two teams on 5 wins and making it through

I've come across more ridiculous conspiracy theories where Afghans deliberately lost badly to India in 2021 T20 WC to improve their (India) chances of making it to semis, especially after giving Pakistan a close fight. This is not from youtube comments, there were former Pak players that discussed this on live TV.

There is also a conspiracy theory that India deliberately lost against England in 2019 WC so that Pak wouldn’t make semi-finals😂

90's had the best conspiracy theories, since that was the height of Match Fixing with guys like Cronje , Azharuddin , Saleem Malik having big influence over their teams

It only goes to highlight that TOSS has not been a factor at all this world cup, surprisingly. Teams are winning batting in either innings.

Afghanistan shown they can beat the big teams but can also lose to any team in any given day also. Their batting is still their big weak spot, if you can get an opener out early in the powerplay then you’re in for a big chance against them. Even though they still have to face Sri Lanka and a Netherlands they are no walk overs for them

Afghanistan has choked several times against Pakistan in recent times so this time they decided to be calm and composed and not panic. Great to see they have improved in this regard.

The loss to Bangladesh ****s them a bit I think. If they'd beaten them along with Sri Lanka, Netherlands, England and Pakistan they could be a shot.
