Fun upset, but one in which it seems like Afghanistan were simply the better team.

Going back to some posts right back at the start of the thread, it is incredible how far Pakistan's bowling has fallen with only (I think) Naseem Shah lost to injury. I thought Pakistan's bowling back at the 2022 T20 World Cup was incredible. It was Afridi, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Wasim, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan (with a little from Iftikhar). Obv ODI bowling is not exactly the same as T20I bowling, but you'd expect an attack that still has three of those bowlers to be very good. (can see Mohammad Wasim in the squad but left out). Somehow Haris Rauf is now awful, Shadab more like a part-timer in these conditions, the two replacements in Hasan Ali and Usama are struggling, and so it feels like it's Afridi or bust. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but it surprises me to see the bowling fall off so quickly.

I seem to remember Pakistan fielded surprisingly well back at that T20 World Cup too, whereas the fielding is bad again now - doesn't help.

Looks like I missed some history.

@straw man I've always thought of Rauf as a vut reliant on shock and awe so the longer the format the more he tapers, but yeah any attack with Shaheen in it shouldn't be dispatched by the least good batting line up. Pakistan aren't performing to the standard we expect.
