It's not a blessing, he's been in great form since returning from the knee, is a class act and was player of the tournament at the last Cup. But it isn't the disaster it could be
Yeah least you guys still have batters in form. Unlike Australia and England with their injuries to Head and a stokes whose replacements are struggling

I have been increasingly worried by our bowling but Woakes and Curran have been so useless it is untrue. Sure, the batting didn’t fire, but when you are chasing 40 or 50 more than you might have done you are setting yourself up for a fall l. Well done Afghanistan l

Think this is a little harsh on Afghanistan. A far better team than any of those, just played much closer to their potential today against a team clearly panicked by decent spin. They hadn't done themselves justice earlier in the tournament.

Still an utterly lame performance all around here from us though, no question.
I don't think it is. This is only their second win against a test playing nation in an ODI or T20I world cup.

This is also their first ODI win against SENAIP sides too.

Maybe it's finally their time to shine but I suspect they won't beat SENA or P. Ours will be the only shock.

Personally I blame NZ for this.

Not the first game smashing, the warm up series where we beat them comfortably. Before that series we all thought we were totally unprepared for the WC. Then those few games made us look much better than we are.

Yeah I thought Englands team looked real balanced and firing coming into this World Cup got big doubts now. They still got the talent to turn it around. The bowling is the bigger worry for me, I don’t think they wanted to drop Moeen this early, Curran he relies on his variety too much and doesn’t got a good stock ball. Woakes I don’t like him in power play

This tournament just looks like one too many for this team.

We've not quite been the same since the end of the Morgan- Bayliss era.

The seam bowling, Topley apart, hasn't fired and our batting looks a bit threadbare without Stokes.

Only our spinners look up to the mark at the moment.

Can we turn it around - possibly but it looks a big ask at the moment.

The one we drew when New Zealand were missing their best players and playing people they didn't even select for this world cup?

We only won one of the games thanks to Livingstone/Curran pulling off an unlikely partnership.

Also Roy’s a big loss in my opinion I would have backed him even though he wasn’t in form.
The issue is we've simply not taken this format seriously since 2019.

We've rarely selected our best players let alone picked our strongest side.

Roy and Moeen played more than anyone and yet not their or carrying drinks.

Aware injury and COVID played their part.

But definitely been a bit of arrogance from a lot of this squad to just just turn up and perform like they did 4+ years ago.

England's issue this tournament has been the middle order more than anything, no? Bairstow's been poor up top, but the rest of the top order have been pretty good. Malan got a start today and got a big 100 vs bangladesh, root has 2 60-80's in 3 dig's, brook got 50 today and got decent 30 odd's in the other two games. England are just missing having stokes morgan buttler as their 4-5-6 rather than brook-buttler-livingstone.
