Both are probably overrated but come on we're not seriously suggesting that Sehwag > Rohit in ODIs, in any context
He's saying he'd move Rohit down the order to get Sehwag in there and play both, not that Sehwag was actually better.

But he has been really overdosing on his strike rate bullshit across the forum lately so who knows. Being wrong isn't really unusual for him but arguing it in such a trollish and silly manner definitely is.

Don't even imply that Afridi is on a similar level to Jayasuriya or Gilchrist as a batsman. Or cricketer.
Nope. I am saying there is a specified blaster opener role in modern ODI cricket.

My friend, if I rubbed you the wrong way, my apologies. I do enjoy these back and forths.

Strike rate not mattering at all is a 10x more nonsensical and ridiculous take. The suggestion should be laughed out of the room every time.

Yes. If anything, it matters way more in ODIs. Anyone who watches cricket should understand how your rate of scoring runs affects the state of the game.

I would go with the below Indian team.

Sachin
Rohit
Kohli
Sehwag
Yuvraj
Dhoni
Pandya
Kapil
Zaheer/Shami
Bumrah
Kuldeep

Sehwag is kind of unproven at #4, but I would still back him to score well there, as he is one of the GOATs ever against spin.
The other option is to pick Dhawan and bat Rohit and Kohli out of their positions(which I don't prefer). Sehwag is one player one could do that to I guess.
Pandya and Kuldeep are still work in progress, but I will pick them ahead of other options.
Pandya is the preferred 5th bowler. But there is Sachin, Sehwag and Yuvraj to cover up.
That is a monstrous batting lineup and would do well in most situations. Most bases covered there imo.
