I would go with the below Indian team.

Sachin
Rohit
Kohli
Sehwag
Yuvraj
Dhoni
Pandya
Kapil
Zaheer/Shami
Bumrah
Kuldeep

Sehwag is kind of unproven at #4, but I would still back him to score well there, as he is one of the GOATs ever against spin.
The other option is to pick Dhawan and bat Rohit and Kohli out of their positions(which I don't prefer). Sehwag is one player one could do that to I guess.
Pandya and Kuldeep are still work in progress, but I will pick them ahead of other options.
Pandya is the preferred 5th bowler. But there is Sachin, Sehwag and Yuvraj to cover up.
That is a monstrous batting lineup and would do well in most situations. Most bases covered there imo.
Better team though Sehwag at 4 is bizarre frankly.

I reckon they will give Pakistan a close fight.

my ind all time xi would be

Sehwag
Sachin
Kohli
Yuvraj
Dhoni*+
Raina
Kapil
Jaddu
Kuldeep
Shami
Bumrah

basically a dream team for dhoni with 3 pacers, 3 spinners and 3 part time spinners

insane but rohit misses out

Finally someone reasonable having Sehwag at the top.

rohit missing out is not too different from hayden missing out for aus all time odi side because gilchrist and waugh are just better

doesn't mean he sucks or anything

Migara

International Coach
For Sri Lanka

Jayasuriya
Dilshan
Sangakkara
Aravinda
Arjuna
Arnold
Mathews
Vaas
Mendis
Murali
Malinga

would be a pretty impressive team. Great opening pair followed by two ATG spinners and 5th bowling shared by two players who average mid 30s with the ball. Many more part time options too. Othodoxy of Sangakkara, Aravinda, Arjuna and Mathews with unorthodoxy of Jayasuriya, Dilshan and Arnold.

I'd rather have Chandana than Mendis , a big part of Mendis success was his mystery spin, once it was no longer a mystery his career was over by 30.
Chandana was consistent and a legspinner , already plenty of finger spinners with Murali , Dilshan ,Aravinda, Jayasuriya..so a wristspinner is needed. And Mahela Jayawardene has to be there ..
I'd have him open with Jayasuriya..Dilshan can move to No.4 , Aravinda, Arjuna and Angelo making up the middle to lower order.

Got to have Rohit

India’s best XI

Sharma
Sachin
Kohli
Yuvraj
Azhar
Dhoni
Kapil
Pathan
Ashwin / Jadeja
Kuldeep
Bumrah

I am not saying this is the best set of XI players to play for India - missing Shami, Srinath, Sehwag, Ganguly - but it’s the best XI and certainly better than Pak or SL
