In the context of the game, yes. However in the context of the season they desperately need a win and this may be their best option, giving themselves two sessions.

Fair enough. I did wonder that but thought they'd have scored a few more than 70 odd off 20 plus overs to give them more of a buffer and place the most attacking fields.

May also have been a deal overnight (given that warks had to declare first) with Warks able to strike a hard bargain knowing Northants’ need.

Glam, Leics and Notts all making a much better fist of it in the second innings. Not completely off the table that Leics could even win (though still unlikely)

Kent somehow going to lose a game where they forced the oppo to follow on (and therefore likely to relegate them).

If you'd said to me a day and a half ago that Kent and Middlesex would draw their respective games I'm not sure if have believed you.

Kent and Middlesex will play the four teams above them, between them. Kent are away to Somerset and home to Lancs, whilst Middlesex are home to Warwickshire and away to Notts. Kent not beating Notts this week is potentially massive. They've got to match Middlesex's result in the next set of games and hope home advantage works for them in the last round.

Always hard to be definitive due to bonus points however in Div 2 Sussex or Leics need to win both of their remaining matches to deny Worcestershire, for whom one win out of two will probably suffice, their last match against Yorkshire looking a better prospect than Durham.
