Missed the Warriors game tonight (there was a certain other game captivating my attention at the time), but it sounds like another nervy performance.

Hope we can shake off these jitters before the finals roll around.
Egan is a huge loss if he’s out for an extended period of time

Was at the game. Scrappy as he'll performance but we got it done. Defence was very leaky.

Charnze and Egan are big losses.

Also gotta thank the tigers very much for being the only team to bring a game over. Crowd for the most part appreciated it too. I hope the tigers go well for the rest of the season.

How the **** was that Manly try not disallowed?
because the NRL is match fixed.

and I'm not joking.

They're either completely incompetent, in which case the league is a joke, or they are fixing, in which case the league is a joke.

if you;re going to disallow the try based on the protected species running into ford at the other end then that one just now had an obstruction and a forward pass in it.

this sport could be so good if it cared more about sport.

edit - and if metcalfe could get in synch with the ****ing d so montoya stops being cooked at that edge then that would be ****ing swell thanks.

also the refs that have graced all teams in the nrl for the past few years earn 300k.

i wish i could fail upwards that hard.

Refereeing rugby league games out there live is ****ing hard. I've done it, it's way harder than it looks.

No excuse for the bad bunker decisions though. I could legitimately do a better job than half of the blokes they have in there.

you've done it at club level right? you're allowed to make mistakes.

this lot are paid 3-6x more than most people to be worse at their job than most people. they're a lot worse than union refs and cricket umpires imo, and everyone knows i death ride dharmasena. the nrl is frequently the competition im going whaaaat at in neutral and invested in games.

Yeah but it's not like there are better referees in lower grades, or like they can just train harder for it etc. They're actually really good, people just have warped expectations.

As I said though, no excuse for so many bunker ****-ups. I think part of the problem there is that it's not treated as a specialist job. On-field refereeing is different from analysing video; being one of the best in the world at the former doesn't actually mean you're going to be elite at the latter.

that's going to be very well held up

if they can't referee the game then they're not really good, because they're not refereeing the game very well. if they can't ref the modern pace of the game then the game needs to adapt to make it reffable (starting with a competent bunker) because atm the decisions are a mixture of chaos and potential favouritism towards star teams (storm) and players and it's ridiculous to watch in neutral games and obvz frustrating in ones i care about.

Job done. Not feeling great about the try off what should have been a yellow card and then the stupid '6 more, played at' rule for when you **** up and the ball goes everywhere but technically the defence 'played at it.'

but there were some very ***y tries from both sides. turning off the tap down that right edge was crucial to the warriors victory.

Nothing as bad as NBA refs though. They literally call whatevs they feel like calling and do it with impunity.

Cartwright has obviously decided that seeing as though he is anti-vax, he'll inoculate himself against COVID by having a haircut so awful the virus wouldn't be seen anywhere near him.

this is a big thing in nrl imho and a real problem with how the ruck's reffed - some teams get a rub of the green as regards 50-50 calls in the ruck, some sort of subconscious bias whereby if there's a tangle in the ruck between a panther/storm/rooster/bronco and a tiger/bulldog/dragon/warrior, it has to be because the panther/storm/rooster/bronco player is in the right, because they're a panther/storm/rooster/bronco player!
