One solution: We invest and invest alot in the FC system.

When I say FC, I mean ~20-25 matches a year.

Our main philosophy should revolve around red ball cricket. I don't even care about the other formats.

Kids in other countries are playing umpteen matches before their 25th birthday.
Also continue with the academy and take the best talent away from regions who can't be trusted with their development. I bet Jamaica won't even play him in the 4 day matches despite having a dreadful batting lineup.

Definitely. That's where the scouts come into play. Work for their money. I see no reason as to why we can't find these players who are ****ing hungry to play stiff and competitive cricket at the highest level.

Something I am deeply curious about,
Why can't there be a facility (indoor or outdoor) where we have a variety of pitches mimicking the different conditions for our batsmen to improve on their skills?

Shiv Chanderpaul used to face the bowling machine at his home for extended periods of time. This builds concentration. You wanna be hungry. Show ****ing grit.

Happy birthday to one of my country's greatest son, Shivnarine 'Tiger' Chanderpaul

Dynamic player.

When he was opening the batting in ODIs was one of his best phases...

Was probably unfair to recall him for that game early from his sickness. He has a chest infection to the point where they knew he wasn't fit to bowl - I guess they thought he could still swing wildly as opener but it was.... misguided.
What's he playing for if he can't even run a single. Mental.

It's hard to tell because the pitches were so bad, but my gut feeling is that this is one of the weakest under 19s sides we have produced, with one world class talent in Jordan Johnson, who looks like the best batsman we have produced in quite a while to me.

I hope I'm wrong and I'm delighted they are getting the opportunity to tour Sri Lanka, this is a great step forward.

Mavendra Dindyal and Isai Thorne from Guyana were being talked up, but then apparently Thorne's pace has been up and down.

Thorne is ridiculously quick for under 19 level but he is often injured and since his latest comeback has been pretty wild. Dindyal looks a million dollars at the crease but finds a way of getting out. They could both be very good but they have such a long way to go.

Our boys lost the first Under-19 ODI...but bounced back terrifically to defeat the Sri Lankans by a huge margin (195 runs)

Jordan Johnson made 105 in 79 balls; Joshua Dorne 56 (73); and coming in at #8 Tarrique Edward with 53*(36)

The wickets were basically shared by all bowlers, Thorne 3 for 18; Deshawn James 3 for 30; Nathan Edward 2 for 17

Surprised and delighted that they can beat SL by such a huge margin away from home tbh. Johnson is a super talent and Dorne a solid young batsman, but beyond that I didn;t see too much to get excited about. Glad they are proving me wrong!
