South Africa A vs West Indies A four-day series:

1st match, Willowmoore Park, Benoni, 21st-24th November
2nd match, Buffalo Park, East London, 28th November-1st December.
3rd match, Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein, 5th-8th December.
Really looking forward to this: hope they pick solid squads

We managed to draw this match against the SL Under-19s.

This youth, Jordan Johnson with a fine 149 to stave off any threats from the young Sri Lankans.
Let's keep an eye out for him, and hope that he doesn't get away like a certain Hetmyer.

The scorecards from the U19 tour are reminiscent of the West Indies 2001 tour to Sri Lanka with Jordan Johnson in the Brian Lara role.
Now that you’ve mentioned this, I see the similarities. Guys with raw talent like this you need them to be fast-tracked.

Currently, our team has a bunch of mediocre players.

I look at the players we have around the region, and the good ones are the younger ones coming up. Give them 3-5 years to develop and we’ll be back up to our dominant position in World Cricket*

*that is only if they don’t get bamboozled by the temptress that is franchise cricket.

I thought exactly the same! Tbf this was always going to happen. He is head and shoulders above everyone else in his age group, which is generally quite a mediocre group this year, as SSC said. What is so great to see though is the pure scale of domination, he absolutely piled on the runs.

Should select him for the 'A' tour to South Africa.

Standard wasn't that great in my opinion..Lots of work to be done by SL U19's but atleast we won both series against the West Indies ..
I liked the look of Dinura Kalupahana a middle order bat who bowls a bit of medium pace and Vihas Thewmika the off spinning all rounder ..but hard to judge how far they will go at this stage.

Is visas the spin bowling allrounder who smashed a few rapid 50's down the order or is that a different guy?

Apart from Johnson, who looks a generational talent potentially, this West Indies squad is poor. I'm not surprised SL won. It would have been very very one sided without Johnson scoring all those runs.

The CG 50 over competition will begin on the 17th of October featuring 8 teams in a league format.

All matches will be played exclusively in Trinidad and Tobago.

How many matches? 31

Now that is the sort of domestic cricket set up we need. So many young players interacting with current internationals.

Now that is the sort of domestic cricket set up we need. So many young players interacting with current internationals.
The Caribbean Cricket Podcast had a guest a few weeks ago, he was the son of Basil Butcher...he took us on historical journey of Guyana's cricket, most notably, our batsmen.

And he brilliantly traced the point to where the quality of our batsmen declined, that was in the early 2000s. Most of our up-and-coming batsmen moved over to Trinidad to play in their local competition, which actually paid good. This left a field of ordinary batsmen in Guyana going up against each...and the quality of the cricket slowly declined...

But we have seen a renaissance of sorts lately with Berbice, my home county upping their game in developing players from the grassroots. We got Hetmyer out of this....
Motie was always quality. This was known at a very early age. My home club produced 3 test spinners and Motie is already the best of the lot (the other 2 are Permaul and Bishoo.)

Yes, going back to the good news coming from our West Indian team not qualifying for the WC...we have the time now to stop the BS and bring out the best in the Super50!
