He looked okay at Edgbaston without kicking on after getting starts but had a miserable time of it after that tbf. But to hear this lot you'd think he was a prank cricketer who had never had a decent game for Australia before

And you know he didn't actually play, so I'm not sure how he's at fault for losing this game

This is a useless discussion about who “deserveswhat or who should win in sports because if the “better” team always won, you wouldn’t really have sports.

But if you had to pick between the two sides about which one you’d take to win the next Test if there was one, you’d have to go with England. Which, if I were an England fan, would be very frustrating.

Marsh selection was still justified over green though. He saved Aus that 4th test and got a century the 3rd test to make it competitive while everyone fell. What the hell did green do all series ?

Edged and poked his way to a few runs from what I remember.

He may have benefitted had there been a tour match or two like yesteryear.

What's the argument for stokes>Green in tests right now, purely as batsmen? Green has better career stats, better FC stats and Green averages a significantly more since he debuted. Stokes obviously has a higher ceiling and his peak around the 2019 ashes and 2020 SA tour is better than what Green has achieved so far but that peak is long gone. Best case right now green=Stokes as a batsmen.

The only form Green had with the bat was IPL so the hype around him as a bat was based mostly on that at the time. Remember another post where someone mentioned Stokes not doing much in IPL and Green dominating.

Or they win the first test because they dominated it for the most part and run away with the series. This is all conjecture. Stokes didn't take the reins after losing the first 2. He was part of why they lost to begin with and they just took the scenic route to drawing. A draw is a draw. He remedied his mistake in the second half the series but he did do it himself first.

There isn't a chance another captain aside from Stokes would get a better overall series result from this English side.
