Lol Headingley was as tight as the first two
Yeah there are only two games in this series that had one side consistently ahead of the game: Lord's and OT. All the others could easily have gone either way.

cummins deserves a ton of empathy for what he has dealt with this year. also maybe some time off so that he can come back fresher. like him as aus captain but maybe aus could have done better her under smith's tactics/captaincy

If Stokes wasn't captain, this team wouldn't even be competing against Cummins' side in the first place and would have lost this series well before the final test.
Or they win the first test because they dominated it for the most part and run away with the series. This is all conjecture. Stokes didn't take the reins after losing the first 2. He was part of why they lost to begin with and they just took the scenic route to drawing. A draw is a draw. He remedied his mistake in the second half the series but he did do it himself first.

I just meant on final result tbf. 49 and 41.
Oh yeah but Lord's was never quite as close as the final result suggested IMO. And in general "outplayed" to me is more about who was ahead of the game throughout, not whether you could miraculously pull it out at the end.

Broad really did pick a good time to end doesn’t get much a better retirement than today. Anderson should hang it with some dignity left

Maybe, but another half hour of Stokes and we might have got over the line, much as if either Smith or Head had hung around here they would have.
