Yeah apart from weird things like unpersonning Foakes, the team itself seems fine - especially now they've picked Wood and Woakes instead of Robinson - but they missed out on too many big moments in the first two games. It probably won't be talked about much but letting Australia get to 3/330 before they really started playing having sent Aus in under lights and clouds at Lord's was a terminal error.Anyway I don't feel this team is any worse than I did at the start of the summer, not winning this series is irritating rather than depressing.
England playing keepy-uppy in the rain?Weather getting worse, England out in the middle playing keepy-uppy, Australia filling the fridge full of amber-nectar.
YeahEngland playing keepy-uppy in the rain?
Yeah the last hour of the first test and first 3 hours of the second test is when they basically lost the Ashes.but letting Australia get to 3/330 before they really started playing having sent Aus in under lights and clouds at Lord's was a terminal error.
Just go to the hotel grab a beer and a few strippers maybeEngland players have to play the rope a dope and pretend the weather is getting better they cant show weakness to Australia players and do nothing.
I really hope Wood and Woakes don't catch a cold.Yeah
Lord's they played really quite badly for large parts of. Was by far their worst performance of the 4.Yeah apart from weird things like unpersonning Foakes, the team itself seems fine - especially now they've picked Wood and Woakes instead of Robinson - but they missed out on too many big moments in the first two games. Haven't been the same team since Lyon got injured. Nearly cost them the series but for the English weather coming to the rescue.Yes looking increasingly unlikely that this Test is going to see anymore cricket today. Such a shame a really competitive and compelling series is going to ultimately be decided by the weather and deny us a showpiece shoot-out at the Oval. Not that the Aussies will be complaining and I don’t blame them. They weren’t looking the same team this Test and things appeared to be catching up with them, a draw is all they need and if the weather decides that I’m sure they’ll still be delighted!
180/1 with Lyon injured on day two as well.Yeah the last hour of the first test and first 3 hours of the second test is when they basically lost the Ashes.
Tbh my gut feel was we threw Edgbaston away but Aus really should have got the win at Headingley. A decider at The Oval would have been great but nevermind.Lord's they played really quite badly for large parts of. Was by far their worst performance of the 4.
The results of the next 3 series are fairly predictable but will still be really interesting to see how exactly they go in India.
I do hope this Test draws a terminal line through the idea of not playing a specialist spinner unless the pitch is literally the same colour as the outfield. An okay part timer is never a good enough substitute.Haven't been the same team since Lyon got injured. Nearly cost them the series but for the English weather coming to the rescue.
Yeah that was schoolboy stuff180/1 with Lyon injured on day two as well.
Yeah agree with this. Two very even Test matches, one somewhat one-sided Test only made to look otherwise by a worldie by Stokes, and one completely one-sided Test ruined by the weather. But that's Tests in England for you, I think only 2015 of the semi-recent series hasn't had a game ruined by rain.Tbh my gut feel was we threw Edgbaston away but Aus really should have got the win at Headingley. A decider at The Oval would have been great but nevermind.
Main difference was wood and woakes. We had Lyon go out and our team and bowling has suffered heaps .they have pope go out then they bring back Ali as well as wood and woakes test 3 and they look better than us from there.Yeah apart from weird things like unpersonning Foakes, the team itself seems fine - especially now they've picked Wood and Woakes instead of Robinson - but they missed out on too many big moments in the first two games. Fifth test again a non eventTbh my gut feel was we threw Edgbaston away but Aus really should have got the win at Headingley. A decider at The Oval would have been great but nevermind.
Makes the defenses of Robinson earlier in the series look very odd tbh when they could have had this instead.Main difference was wood and woakes. We had Lyon go out and our team and bowling has suffered heaps .they have pope go out then they bring back Ali as well as wood and woakes test 3 and they look better than us from there.
They’ve had better replacements than us while we’ve tried to put hazlewood, Boland and Murphy in the team at stages and none of them have been effective. If wood and woakes are they the first two tests then the whole series is looking different
