So amongst the chaos of the last couple of months I've been watching our under 19 mens tournament in St Vincent.

Frankly, it has been worrying. The pitches have been mostly terrible, with severe turn on day 1. All but a few batsmen have looked well below average and whilst there are a few pacers with some speed, there was nothing particularly outstanding on display.

If you serve up these sort of pitches what do you expect? We have to do better.

From a talent scouting perspective, Jordan Johnson from Jamaica looks international class for his age and miles ahead of anyone else in the region. Joshua Dorne also looks potentially good, especially for a 16 year old. There are a couple of good leg spinners with all the tricks which is nice to see (McKenzie and Singh).

@SSC, Guyana have been abysmal. Thorne is fast but doesn't seem to be getting more accurate and the new Sarwan (Dindyal) can't buy a run.

Unfortunately, preparing decent pitches in the Caribbean has by and large became a forgotten art over the last umpteen years now.

Yes, that was a shocker. We'll bounce back from this.

Raphick Jumadeen has passed away

"Former West Indies spinner, Raphick Jumadeen, passed away on Tuesday night. His family confirmed the 75-year-old's passing but could not give any further details on his death.

A left-armed spinner highly regarded around the Caribbean, Jumadeen played 12 Test matches for the West Indies between 1972 and 1979 taking 29 wickets. His best figures at the international level were 6-162.

Jumadeen, who was born in Harmony Hall, Gasparillo, made his Test debut at the Queen's Park Oval on April 20 against New Zealand. He finished the drawn match with one wicket, the scalp of Brian Hastings. Interestingly, Jumadeen has a Test half-century (56) to his name against India in Kanpur, though he ended his international career with a total of 84 runs altogether."

So, the next test series is in 6 months time.

Who gets the kick? Reifer, Cornwall, Warrican?

Who I would like to see, Brandon King, Hetmyer, Pooran...a few others.

We have an A team tour coming up soon. There will be a few more names...

Agreed, the A team tour should answer a lot of those questions.

Though in my view we should organise tests v Ireland around the world cup.

These people are not acting in a professional manner at all.

Their social media page is a disgrace; they even turned off comments around the same time we failed to qualify for the CWC. They can't handle the criticisms from their own fans.
For years it's just been different faces the same attitudes. Squad announcements left to the last minute, no promotion of the domestic game, lack of sponsorship for the West Indies team, domestic tournaments treated like a hinderence etc.

It's not a 'legit' cricket operation anymore. It's like a corporation. The stuff you mentioned are what further alienates the fans from turning out. Add to that ridiculous start times of the matches to come. What a joke. Only place in the world where T20Is are played just a few hours after sunrise.

In other news, it's refeshing to see Jamaica Under-19 team win the 3-day competition yesterday. The island just keeps on delivering, and let's hope that this be an inspiration for many.

I hate that Jamaica didn't get any matches to host in this series against India.

Jordan Johnson looks like the best young batsman we have produced in a long time. Absolute class. Let's see how we can ruin his development.......

The squad announcements and lack of explanation for selection decisions really is appalling. Let's Haynes right off the hook. Doesn't help that our media are so lame as well, CCP are the only ones actually asking the obvious questions and deep diving issues.

One solution: We invest and invest alot in the FC system.

When I say FC, I mean ~20-25 matches a year.

Our main philosophy should revolve around red ball cricket. I don't even care about the other formats.

Kids in other countries are playing umpteen matches before their 25th birthday.
