That was a different era. It used to be all quality back then. I remember the same when India won the Natwest Trophy, and also the Ashes of 2005watched the full game. Star even got Shastri and a studio analyst which they never do for non-India games.
Port of spain always have helped India. Even in their glory days wi I think won only once in 1989 due to the brilliance of great Malcolm Marshall. But if the pitch has variable bounce which it was famous for I think wi can give us a fight. Please atleast it doesn't spin from day 1.A slightly better pitch is expected with batters able to hit through the line and a little bit more bounce for seamers. Alas it will still take spin based on previous FC games. Playing against India here is a financial decision not a cricket one.
With that in mind I'm going to rearrange the chairs on the deck of the Titanic (© ImpatientLime) and suggest a squad for the next test that can give us marginal gains and make the test at least more competitive and entertaining for fans, if nothing else.
I need to see new faces. If I see an unchanged batting lineup I don't think I'm even going to watch tbh. Reifer and Blackwood need to go. I think McKenzie and King come in to replace them for me, but I don't think Haynes is capable of thinking outside of the box. We'll probably call up Bonner, Brooks or Chase instead lol.
The only time I felt remotely engaged or intrigued by our involvement in this test was when Athanaze was batting. It provided some hope at least. We need more of that.
Yes, Athanaze gives off the old school vibes of a Chanderpaul, Sarwan, Gayle...A slightly better pitch is expected with batters able to hit through the line and a little bit more bounce for seamers. Athanaze just looks like a world class player. He has got the temperament to play long and if he can play on that wicket against Ash then he can play spin everywhere. Just want to see his game against pace which I would at Gabba in jan 24.Yes, Athanaze gives off the old school vibes of a Chanderpaul, Sarwan, Gayle...
Batsmen who wanted to be there, face up to the challenge.
I love the way he played Ashwin, on merit. And pounced on the slighest shift of length when necessary.
If this was against England I'd be reasonably confident they'd bounce back after being destroyed and people calling them minnow standard. They never look likely to do anything against India.Hope the next one is more competitive…
Bonner should never have been dropped in the first place.A slightly better pitch is expected with batters able to hit through the line and a little bit more bounce for seamers. There are pills for that these daysBonner should never have been dropped in the first place.
More West Indian fans should become cricket writers thenchecked the Cricinfo series page earlier and there are a good 2/3 articles on different aspects of the game from an Indian perspective. There are zero from a West Indian perspective. Cricinfo doesn't even have a dedicated west indian contributor anymore
sums up the nonsense that is world cricket.

Didn't they have a girl who lives in the US cover Windies cricket? Did she quit?simpleton thinking
there are people who write about them but cricinfo doesnt bother having one because it doesn’t get them as much revenue and clicks as a random article about the pig3
Are you talking about Alex Jordan?Didn't they have a girl who lives in the US cover Windies cricket? Did she quit?

There's just one writer for Pakistan too. In the event that he quits Cricinfo would have no Pakistani representative too and that would be no reflection of the state of world cricket.simpleton thinking
