School Boy/Girl Cricketer
Tough test for Smith. He's been relatively comfortable against medium pace on some slower pitches this series, but recent (post-2019) tests would suggest he'll struggle here.
I don't understand where this idea is coming from, smith averaged 53 in 2021 and 58 2022, it's not not like he's fallen off a cliff

At that pace frequent injuries are common for fast bowlers.
Hardly played any red ball this summer after being out for about 4 months

I think he played some minor cricket league stuff for Ashington which whoever played them must have been over joyed to see him running in

yeah I’m with you - rip in and try and bowl as quick as you can for 6 balls, down to fine leg for a well earned rest and the adulation of the crowd
Be very tempted to give him two if the new batsman is on strike
