Happy with 7 wickets in the last match. Hopefully I keep improving and get 7 in an innings in the next one with 2 hat tricks.

I then told it that J. Arquis, Daemon and S. Vicente were all opening batsmen and asked if the team should be revised. To which it agreed and suggested this, which the eagle-eyed amongst you will notice is lacking in one key area.

  1. J. Howe
  2. D. Worcester-Park
  3. S. Mole
  4. G. Herregonaes
  5. R. Inksquid (wicket-keeper)
  6. R. Smythe-Brown
  7. H. Davis
  8. C. Thrust
  9. J. Arquis or S. Vicente
  10. Daemon (reserve player)

Number 7. Now that is really the place to be. Hope you're all looking forward to some of the most annoying knocks known to man. For Australia, that is.

Third Test, Headingley

Day One

The Australians chose to bat first on the first morning and made an extremely cautious start. After the first hour the score was 28/0 with Anton Jevali on 6* off 45 balls. But the visitors' opening pair eventually got going and established a fifty stand to open up the test. Smyth-Brown got the opening wicket (Duff caught behind for 26) before a brief rain delay either side of lunch with the score on 57/1.

Slim once again looked to change the tempo of things and mostly succeeded, bringing up a confident half century in a stand with Jevali that took Australia into three figures. With England in danger of only taking one wicket before tea, Smyth-Brown again stepped up to remove the obdurate Jevali for 47(124) with the final delivery of the session.

Australia weren't able to make the most of a good position as they lost three more wickets in the evening. Inksquid took a second catch to dismiss Slim, this time off the offspinner Mole. After debutant Keast had put on a stand of 40 with the dangerous Delonge, the England quicks came back to dismiss both with the score hovering around 200. Ruthless and Kasinathan saw out the rest of a shortened but see-sawing day with the score on 226/5.
