The Zimbabwe one was abysmal as it was completely unnecessary in the context of the game and cost Bond a likely 5-wicket haul. Just **** in every possible way. I reckon McCullum was cheesed off that Blessing Mahwire had held up the victory by scoring his only Test 50 and had just taken Chris Martin for 21 runs in an over. Day 3 of the game and NZ only won by an innings and 46 runs.

Anyway, in general I'm against these type of dismissals as they encourage low level club cricketers to do this ****. ****ing annoying to watch some shitty keeper lob the ball at the stumps every ball and get nowhere near hitting them. Does my head in. I blame McCullum (but then, I often do) [this post sponsored by ShitCuntBet]

Wasn’t Vettori sort of the villain there? He jogs after the ball, clearly appearing to concede the single, then fires it into the keeper’s end when he sees Mpofu has left the crease. Would've been weird for McCullum not to remove the bails. And how has Stephen Fleming escaped criticism when it was ultimately up to him to withdraw both the Murali and Mpofu appeals?

Why are people defending Broad? That has to be one of the best non-walks ever and he has earned himself a place in ashes folklore. I was always iffy on the bloke until that moment. Then it was immediate love.

Gutted I fell asleep in the lunch break, though it was probably better for my health. I feel for Bairstow, but haha. That was funny. His marking the crease and then stepping out unaware the ball is already on its way is new folklore.

Stokes is amazing!

This is absolute nonsense and precisely an example of the elitism that undermines the sport in this country. To suggest we have to allow/encourage gamesmanship into the sport to appeal to 'working class kids' is just all shades of elitist, snobbish BS. There are myriad reasons why working class kids don't play cricket in England, not condoning international players exploiting rule loopholes simply isn't one of them. I am not proposing a return of the Gentleman v Players fixture, or we force-feed all players high tea and cucumber sandwiches at an innings break. I am merely saying there are enough legitimate methods to get players out in cricket, without resorting to what Carey did yesterday.

Spirit of cricket be ****ed.....its a highly competitive sport like many others......the stakes are high, players careers and reputations are defined by performance and results. It hate with a passion the term "spirit of cricket"......its mythical rubbish and always has been back to the days of WG Grace replacing the bails!!

Nup. Players diving in football, players taking strategic toilet/injury breaks in tennis, players walking across someone's lie in golf etc adds absolutely zero to those particular international sports, other than the media coverage they get of the inevitable fallout. Yes, sport is highly competitive, and players will do anything they can to win, but (for me) sportsfolk exploiting loopholes tucked away under rule 201 clause (c) just makes me feel (as a viewer) that little bit uneasy.

Absolutely nothing wrong at all with YJB wicket......nothing wrong with Broad coming out with the ****s and stirring up the crowd.......was terrific theatre. Absolutely everything wrong with those ****s in the long room abusing the Aussies walking back in........but what can you expect from that revolting class of self righteous ****s.

Carey's actions weren't terrific theatre at all; they were sly and underhand. The fallout from his actions may have been, however. Broad sledging, Stokes galvanised, crowd engaged. But 'terrific theatre' is Stokes' innings yesterday, Smith's the other day, Johnson in 2013/2014, Pieteren Oval '05 etc, etc, etc. Not Carey. But the bolded bit, I am on board with that. Those elitist (largely) white (largely) men represent everything that is wrong with cricket in this country and, heck, a lot of what is wrong with society.

Wouldn't have lasted that long if some pretty regulation catches been taken tbf (Carey's was tough). Australia still have a fair bit of work to do in the field, still too many drops and we've mostly been fortunate that most of the dropped chances have been followed up soon afterwards with another chance. The Green drop of Duckett was the first one which has actually hurt but that's down to luck more than anything else.

I was watching a summary of the days play and the guy doing it said "stokes has 3 gears; deadbat, one day middle overs mode and t20 death hitting mode. There's plenty of players with more gears, but in situations like this when his options are limited there's not a better player in the world for the job"
