Balbirnie didn't exactly play a captain's innings either, though I understand movement decreases drastically after the first hour of play

Winning the toss is a huge advantage no doubt, better opposition would have beaten us yesterday with the advantageous conditions the USA were given.

But Ireland don't seem quite right to me for this tournament. They'll probably lose loads and then beat us. Typical Ireland.

The Ireland bowlers bar Little are the absolute ****s personified, genuinely don't think the rest of them should be paid in real money. M.U.G.S.
Tectors gun and dockrell had a good game. Stirling's still good aswell, although he's a few years past his absolute best now, and balbarines just a bit out of form.

He did say bowlers.

It's hard to not love McBrine as an allround cricketer but he's a steady bowler at best, and it's very hard to get enthused about any of their other bowlers (Little who is gun aside).

My bad, misread the initial post. Thanks for correcting me.

Yeah definitely an upset with Ireland pretty much at full strength. I think Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka will qualify given the quality of cricket played so far from all sides, but that could easily change.
Yeah 100% agree.

Ireland will knock over WI because they always do, but they have their own problems. Their WI defeat will probably just help Zimbabwe get in, who are a better side than Ireland for sure right now (but I suspect probably for the last cycle ever).

Still baffles me how Sri Lanka are in these qualifiers just shows how much they’ve fallen as a team. They were crazy good especially in the short formats when Kumar, Mahela, dilshan and that were there

Depends on how Zimbabwe and Ireland develop, honestly. Zimbabwe don't have a ton in the way of batting coming through, but their bowling is good and none of them should **** off unless they go franchise, Ireland are pretty much the opposite. Campher-tucker-tector is a lot to build on with balbo hopefully having another 5 years in the tank, but the bowling is a bit shite if little goes full franchise. Adair is probably the best they have aside from him and I don't rate him. Craig Young was decent, but God knows where he's at ATM.

Confident Ireland's next gen will be much better than Zim's for various reasons, but comparative amounts of corruption are near the top of the list. We'll see. I'll be digging this post in a decade.

Your probably right, honestly. I don't follow the domestic scene of either well enough to comment with any confidence. Just going off the bits I've scene at international level in the past few years.
