I wonder if they teach the 2005 Ashes in England like they teach WW2 in Japan
Corrected for you....Do people actually think this in Australia? Wow. What do they think happened? It was a magic batch of balls that swung 3x as much as usual but only for Australia? The bowlers figured out a secret to reverse swing bowling that they then forgot immediately after the series (until they got spotted in SA) and no one has ever rediscovered?
Never seen such levels of denial
Of course not, just pointing out a little hypocrisy going on here. And as for Tresco's book, I have a feeling that Warner's will be somewhat more revelatory. Are you this willingly blinkered?
Nope, it's not hypocrisy. Using foreign substances on the ball was illegal, and Trescothick admitted to it. Not being banned didn't matter, the team knowingly cheated. You are putting that on the same weight as Stuart Broad making insinuations.Of course not, just pointing out a little hypocrisy going on here. You don't seem to be aware that the use of sandpaper, as clearly illegal as it was, did **** all for helping the ball swing. Like virtually nothing, and didn't help them win any matches either.Corrected for you....
And a reminder, no one was ever banned for sucking Murray Mints.

You only found out about the Murray Mints when Tresco decided he needed to sell a book. What are we going to find out when Warner wants to sell his? At some point, I suspect he's going to sell the bowlers down the river.Nope, it's not hypocrisy. Using foreign substances on the ball was illegal, and Trescothick admitted to it. Essentially you're imposing your judgement on the facts of what happened through a jingoistic lens, and it's coming up rather distorted.
Sandpaper may have been totally ineffective in SA, but why on earth did they consider it worth trying in a high profile Test Match unless they had some evidence that it had previously been successful? You don't seem to be aware that the use of sandpaper, as clearly illegal as it was, did **** all for helping the ball swing. Very good question. Answer is pretty simple. They're moronsSandpaper may have been totally ineffective in SA, but why on earth did they consider it worth trying in a high profile Test Match unless they had some evidence that it had previously been successful?
Are they morons or was it a win at all costs situation? Even Warner I struggle to think of as a complete moron these days, and Smith certainly isn't. You could argue he was maybe a weak leader, but I still don't believe it was a spur of the moment strategy.Very good question. Answer is pretty simple. They're morons
If Tresco hadn't spilled a pocketful of wrappers during a game murray mints might have stayed a secret, or at most been a rumour
Smith is heavily on the spectrum (IMO) and most likely knew nothing about it anyway. You might also be unaware of everything that was going on with Warner at the time, abuse of his wife etc and he's not a smart guy st the best of times. Educate yourself a bit you might have a more informed opinion. Are they morons or was it a win at all costs situation? Pretty sure the whole "void" series thing is a joke lolIt’s just fkn bizarre. Two series should be voided on zero evidence but an actual admission by England re 2005 is just covered up and gaslighted away. Incredible.
I know about all of that but still don't think it totally adds up. It almost seems like a convenient excuse to bat away the Stuart Broad line.Smith is heavily on the spectrum (IMO) and most likely knew nothing about it anyway. And yeah, obviously the whole voiding thing is a joke. It was again started by Broad, he's just so damn good at winding certain types up.Pretty sure the whole "void" series thing is a joke lol
That’s what I thought initially but then he became quite serious about the 05 series with justifications and diversions.Pretty sure the whole "void" series thing is a joke lol
I literally kicked it off with the Stuart Broad line. No one is trying to void a series, but it was amusing to see how bitter some clearly still are about 2005. If you're unaware of Broad's comment regarding Sandpaper then as @TheJediBrah says, 'educate yourself'.That’s what I thought initially but then he became quite serious about the 05 series with justifications and diversions.
So I’m not so sure. He did go onto attempt a connection with sandpaper gate and Australian bowlers achieving swing in the ashes prior; which his post at #45 suggests. Besides others on here think much the same. Could be a conspiracy theory held by their fans.
But now since he’s been unfrocked he just gaslights “oh yeah I was only joking … lulz".
Bull ****: He meant it.
So one minute what Stuart Broad is saying is gospel truth, the next he's having a wind up? What a load of blatantly hypocritical drivelI know about all of that but still don't think it totally adds up. It almost seems like a convenient excuse to bat away the Stuart Broad line.
And yeah, obviously the whole voiding thing is a joke. It was again started by Broad, he's just so damn good at winding certain types up.
Yeah I agree, Stuart Broad just likes to run his mouth from time to time. He certainly isn't the only cricketer to do soIt was definitely a wind-up from Broad. There's no way he's that oblivious to make a serious comment like that, publicly
If Jimmy Anderson said it however, I wouldn't be surprised if he meant it. Never seen a more hypocritical cricketer with less self-awareness. Remember in 2013 when he was sledging constantly then whinged to the umps when he got some back lol
Broad's own performance was particularly disappointing. His bowling at Perth was some of the worst I've seen in a test match.he can't accept his beloved England were just crap for most of that series
Yeah, I remember that well. A truly insipid performanceBroad's own performance was particularly disappointing. His bowling at Perth was some of the worst I've seen in a test match.
