Australian Domestic Season 2022-23

When exactly was this time when Paine was considered the only option? It certainly wasn't when he got picked before the 2017-18 Ashes, that one came so far out of left field that many (myself included) didn't entirely initially believe it when the rumours of that first popped up. Agree completely on Pierson though, he has developed into a quality cricketer.

Pretty much Tim David logic, players seeking opportunities in different and obscure places to grow their game is something I believe cricket will be seeing more and more of

Would rather Johnson didn't go if I'm honest though, would absolutely hate it if he picked up an injury over there
Wasn't it before the 2017-2018 ashes? I distintically recall that just before/during that series all the other keepers in the country where making SFA runs. Could have that wrong, was a bit younger during that series and wasn't following the shield as closely as I have been more recently.

lmao at Spencer Johnson and Manenti going to play for Italy. Joe Burns will also soon be in contention. Rocchiccioli too should play imo
Just looed at the teams in that qualifiers, italy could honestly upset scotland or ireland and fight there way into the pre-wc qualifiers. Ireland's t20 team is a bit all over the place from memory, playing better recently but there's defs a chance.

Yeah I think basically leading into the 17/18 Ashes the keeping spot was Nevill's to lose, and he then went out and lost it by making bugger all runs

Paine wasn't even getting picked for Tasmania at the start of that 2017-18 summer though. He got picked in a warm up game against England before he played for his state that season

You are right in the sense that no other keeper was really making a case for themselves, but that doesn't change that Paine was still seemingly a long way off the radar at the start of that season

And now Moises leaves one which traps him leg before, NSW's poor season only continues

Why have WA not declared yet lol? 440 in 120 odd overs is already enough to bowl at.
Does seem a bit odd. Maybe WA feel they don't really need to push for an outright win with how far they are ahead on the ladder and would rather give someone like Hardie more time at the crease? Honestly I am not sure

They have Madsen, Stewart, Berg and Harry Manenti too. They could definitely spring some upsets with those stacked ringers.
Dernbach still playing for them? I remember looking at some scorecards once and he was still somehow managing to be the worst bowler in the team.

Hardie could certainly use the runs. Probably get out now that I've posted this.

I guess WA just wanted a 500 run lead? Idk feel like if they where gonna let Hardie and Bancroft go this far may aswell let them go for the 100 and 200.

Also, funny to think that NSW refused to back McAndrew while backing younger guys like Sangha and Edwards who are averaging mid 20's as specialist bats. McAndrews averaging 37 in FC with the bat, has county, shield and Aus-A runs and also takes his wickets at 32.
