The Mankad

Cricketer Of The Year
Certain club cricket leagues in England are apparently discussing banning the 'Mankad'.

It certainly is a controversial but legal mode of dismissal but, as the article suggests, has given rise to ugly scenes at the club level in Australia and South Africa.
Banning this mode of dismissal could have ramifications. What's to stop the non-striker standing mid-pitch as the bowler runs in?

Looks more like a suggestion that it could be considered rather than actually is being.

That said, wouldn't be the first stupid idea from English club cricket. The idea of walking for catches became popular in southern England club cricket.

Over backing up, could be made a 5 run penalty for unsporting behavior from the umpire?
Umpire warning and then penalty, 3rd umpire could monitor.

Anything remotely unusual or controversial is going to be a bigger drama at lower level. You've got amateur umpires and often the batting team umpires their own side in lower level club cricket. Invariably leads to problems.
