The Mankad

Whatever it takes!!!
Over backing up, could be made a 5 run penalty for unsporting behavior from the umpire?
Umpire warning and then penalty, 3rd umpire could monitor.
Y the **** do they need to be warned? I am ok with the 5 run penalty in international cricket as 3rd umpires are checking the front foot no ball anyways but as others have pointed out, the need to have the same laws across all levels makes it difficult. The run out is far easier.

I've never seen anyone properly take the piss in club cricket anyway. You walk in with the bowler and if you're slightly over it's a matter of inches which no one cares about anyway.

Must admit, at the end of a dead rubber ODI yesterday, I was somewhat disappointed to see Archer settle matters by splattering the stumps instead of adopting the Deepti Sharma Mankad method. Imagine trying to improve your bowling figures against a number 11 instead of going for the easy run out.

Look at Rohit's bat when Kuhnemann's foot got stuck at the crease and he abandoned the delivery.

I don't see anything wrong with either backing up or mankading. To me it's akin to baseball and stealing a base/pitcher throwing to their baseman. I could see a reason to create an equivalent of the balk rule, so that bowlers don't go through with their delivery stride then turn around and throw the stumps down.

I've never got the warning thing, because it's a hollow gesture. If the bowler warns a batter, and then said batter continues to back up, the bowler will still be castigated if he mankads on a subsequent delivery.

Ah the utterly nebulous spirit of the game b*ll*cks where certain batters whine about it, but are only too happy to be stealing ground. Really don't see the issue.
Its only spirit of cricket when it suits whoever is on the losing end.
