*Official* New Zealand vs Pakistan 2022/23

Yup, it's time to get G.D Phillips in there, world class short version format players can also make reasonable test bats.
Young to get a good shot at no.4 would be my preference, but yes Phillips would be an asset as well.

Nicholls hasn't made use of good batting conditions and folded everytime pressure was applied. Disappointing, was rightfully given no.4 after Taylor's retirement but that hasn't gone well for the most part.

Bracewell looking like a number 11 against Abrar here. If I were him is be having a go against the other bowlers because surely it's just a matter of time until Abrar gets him.

Nicholls's career converging into Asad Shafiq level after being in the World XI a few years ago. Sad
I feel like that golden 12 month period was kind of a fluke. But I never really rated him so IDK.

But still, these numbers make for ugly reading:

Only one "season" where he averaged over 30 and the two tons he hit in those matches he was dropped (and came against weakish attacks). The other ton he scored he was also dropped early.

Also the manner of dismissals, he's tended to give his wicket away. Before this period Nicholls may not have always looked the part, but he would put a real price on his wicket. And was one of NZ's better batsmen when the chips were down.
