I think I was at that game, if it was the one at the MCG where Gilchrist and Ponting both tonned up. They had nearly half the ground knocked down and was being reconstructed. Jimmy got someone out played-on from a wide half volley

I remember thinking he was ****, had good pace but was really loose. Never would have predicted he would become a medium-fast swing specialist

Oh, and I see that 40yo Jimmy Anderson is the No 2 ranked bowler in the world atm.

Absolutely......still should give ****s a pat on the back when they eventually come to their senses. But we've still got @Shri and @Burgey to laugh and point at on this topic.
He averages 34 in Australia after 22 tests. More tests than Shane Bond's entire career, so it's a large enough sample size. 34.

That's three-four.

Thirty four.

The same as Adders' IQ and Graham Dilley's average in this country, which is apt cos he's roughly on the same level as Anderson.

Even Darren Gough managed to average 27 here.

Embarrassing for England fans he's considered in the running as your best ever pace bowler.

Thirty Four.

Thirty morther****ing four.

All time great? All time mediocrity tbh.

To paraphrase Tim Minchin, just because he's tenacious doesn't mean that he's worthy.

Thirty Four.

Burgey makes some darn good points tbh

I didn't realise his average was that bad in all those countries

The clincher will be what his average in the countries has been in, say, just the last decade
